Ideally, I'd love to be able to do this online, so I could review the vodka selections, without having to go through a person.

I'm an American, living in the states. I want to send a bottle of Vodka to friend who lives in Toronto. What's the best way to do this? Research reveals that it's illegal to ship across national lines. Could I just call up a Toronto liquor store and have them deliver it? If so, which one?
