La Scarola at Grand/Halsted. Great "red sauce place" and more.... and if you ask, they will put oil cured black olives in the eggplant. So good!

I'm looking for a good butcher shop in the northern suburbs - I live in Vernon Hills..... anyone try The Meat Shop in Mundelein?
canned potatoes - anyone cook with them?
Will anyone admit to cooking with canned potatoes? Any good ideas? So far I just saute them in oil and butter until crisp..........

ROYAL CANTONESE - in Mundelein, IL one Rt. 45 at 83. They've been around for 25 or so years, extremely consistent and they've got GREAT chow fun. Ample portions, also. Can't say enough about them!
doctoring ramen soup
Any ramen soup ideas - what do you add to it to make it your own? I add poached eggs, but I wondered if there are any new ideas out there.
