ONE is NOT enough... IMO

I think you can see part of my kitchen in my other videos. If you click on my name on that one you should see the others. I usually keep my food processor and blender in the pan room because I don't want to clutter up the kitchen. I really only have time to cook on the weekends so I only drag it out then. I keep my kitchen counters pretty clear because it could get ugly fast...especially if I am cooking a lot.

On the weekends I cook for the whole week. It can get really clogged up with dirty dishes....my dishwasher can only run so much at a time. I am really thinking about putting in a second dishwasher...it would be great to have two!

ONE is NOT enough... IMO

I finally got around to doing a video on my pan room. You can see it if you search Amy's Pan Room on you tube. You can see how out of control my pan collection is getting!

Are you addicted to kitchen equipment?

I am totally addicted to cookware. I have a whole room full affectionately called the "Pan Room." It is supposed to be an office on the first floor of my house...but it is full of stainless steel Costco racks with tons of cookware.

Stainless Steel Care tips?

Try using WD40. I clean my stainless appliances regularly with WD40. It cleans off all the smudges and covers some scratches.

Pitcher full of cocktails for a party

I am hosting a party this weekend and I want to make a few pitchers of cocktails. I don't want to make them one by one because of the time involved. I would like to make a few pitchers ahead of time. Do you have any winning pitcher size recipes of cocktails?

Kitchen Tool you had an 'a ha' moment with ......

I am with you on the white towels. I must have at least 75 white kitchen towels. I over wash my hands when I cook...I keep boxes of gloves from Sam's around at all times. I have a small laundry basket that I keep in the kitchen when I am cooking. I use a new towel almost every time I wipe counters, dry a pot, or wash my hands. At the end of my cooking, it all goes in the washing machine with a ton of bleach. I do not have one dish towel in my house that isn't white...every one of them gets bleach.

Kitchen habits you stopped after you realized they were questionable

Thanks for the book recommendation. I just ordered it. I've been trying to like my Crockpot for a while...maybe this will help!

Kitchen habits you stopped after you realized they were questionable

I agree with you on the Crockpot. I am still trying to like it. It seems like every recipe I find for the Crockpot starts with a can of cream of something soup!

Rice Cookers - Opinions, prices, brown rice cooking and usefullness?

I have a Zojirushi and I love it. I've had it over 12 years. It is a fuzzy model and it makes perfect rice every time. If something happened to it, I would buy another one in a heartbeat...the very same day!!! I think it is around $160 but it is worth every penny.

Need new sheet pans for baking chicken, roasting veggies, and cookies. The more I read the more I am confused. Suggestions?

The sheet pans that I really like are the Williams-Sonoma Goldtouch. I throw a piece of parchment on them and they work great. Do not use Pam because it leaves a sticky residue...only use parchment.

All-Clad Stockpots with Perforated Insert?

I agree. I have the Pentola and I hardly ever use the insert. It is bad enough to have to wash one big huge pot, but the insert just makes double the work. I usually put mine in the dishwasher...some dishwashers will not fit both the pot and the insert...so you are talking two loads. Just use a spider.

Questions about Lagostina Pots, Henckels Frying Pans, Shun Knives, Ingenia mixing bowls

I do prefer fully clad but it really depends on the pan. Some pans you really don't need it...like a stock pot. One of the major reasons that I like it is there isn't a risk of the disk separating from the bottom. I know it is rare but it does happen...especially if you talk to all those people that bought the cheap Ultrex from HSN. They told everyone that they would have a lifetime warranty and when the pans started exploding... they changed their name and fell off the face of the earth and HSN told them too bad. Luckily I don't buy from them.

I have both disk bottom and fully clad...In fact, I have a whole room full of cookware of almost every brand that there is...but I do have my favorites. I guess it is a matter of preference. Some pans heat way too fast and you cannot control them at a simmer...especially if you have a powerful gas stove. On the other hand, for non-powerful stoves, you need a thinner pan. I have a gas stove in my RV that cannot for the life of it drive some of my heavier pans. I went out and purchased a cheap old set of Tools of the Trade pans at Macy's because it works the best. It is not an ideal situation and I have to be careful with them...but my fully clad pans don't heat on that stove. On the other side of the coin, I have a Camp Chef outdoor stove that packs a punch...I think it has BTUs out your ears...and it drive any pan that you put on it. One downside is that for some pans it is way too much. If I am making chili and I have a disk bottom pot, I cannot keep it at a simmer. Even at the lowest flame that I can get on it, it boils. I need a very high quality fully clad pot to get a low simmer on that stove.

All-Clad rumor - Any truth to it?

I've heard about their delivery problems. I attended an event that was put on by an All-Clad rep. She told me that All-Clad is kinda a small company and they do have problems with stock. Their production facilities cannot handle the demand...that is why the stock is inconsistent. Maybe this change is for the better and they are expanding their facilities...or this change in their line may not have taken off...who knows.

Now THAT's a pizza wheel

How do you clean it? The blade goes into the handle at the top. even if you rotate the blade around to clean it, the blade went into the inside handle part when it was dirty. How do you clean inside that part?

is dishwasher really THAT bad on non-stick pans??

I have a few pans that are nonstick that I put in the dishwasher. I really don't feel like washing them by hand. If they mess up, I will just throw them out and buy another one. I have one pan that I cook breakfast potatoes in...I've put it in the dishwasher for 5 years and it has had no problems. At the same time, I have some Calphalon Unison that are supposed to be made for the dishwasher that are looking bad. I only bought them 6 months ago. However, it is not the nonstick that is bad...It is the outside anodized aluminum. It is not dishwasher safe as they claim.

The best thing is a pan that is nonstick with stainless on the outside....either fully clad or disk bottom. I have two nonstick All-Clad fry pans that came as a set that I put in the dishwasher all the time. They were only $100 for the two...so when they mess up...I will just buy more.

Bloomies is dropping Le Creuset cookware...

Watch out for the Martha Stewart cast iron from Macy's. It was recalled because many of the pieces were defective. I took all mine back and got a credit as result of the recall. I used my credit for LC. What is interesting is all the LC was 40% off at the Macys in the DC area. They closed them all out. The salesperson said that they are adjusting the colors and Macys is getting the new colors and apparently a new formulation on the cast iron. I think their sales were getting stale on the old colors.

ONE is NOT enough... IMO

I have an entire room full of cookware. I converted a first floor office into my "pan room." I have 8 Costco stainless steel racks filled with cookware. It really has gone too far...but I don't care! I love it!
