Winery with amazing picnic area (and wine)?
I forgot to add that it needs to be a place we can reserve an area for ourselves, rather than first come first served.
Dishes for a winery picnic?
I'm looking for some ideas for a picnic on the grounds of a winery for about 8 people. It's a really special celebratory event and want to bring some elegant dishes that can be pre-prepared, travel decently well and are relatively easy to share. A variety would be ideal, anything from pate and charcuterie to hearty grain salads and dessert-y stuff. The winery hasn't been chosen yet, so I am not sure what kinds of wine exactly, but still looking for ideas.
Any recommendations would be deeply appreciated!
Winery with amazing picnic area (and wine)?
I'm looking for a winery not too far from the city (about 1-1.5 hours from SF, for example Healdsburg or Russian River etc.) with a really lovely picnic area for a small celebration of about 8 people. Any recommendations?
Palm Springs - Anything new and/or exciting?
Heading to PS with family. We visit fairly regularly but have not been in the last couple of years. We're looking for anything recently improved or recently opened that is chow-worthy. Kid-friendly or not, we can do either.
Thank you for any suggestions!!
Pasadena with Toddlers?
We'll be stopping for one night in Pasadena on a Friday night. We'll be staying at N Robles/E Union, and will have two toddlers in tow. Looking for a kid-friendly place for an earlyish dinner (around 530-6) on a Friday, and a kid-friendly place for an early breakfast, not too far from the hotel (they'll be DONE with car time by then).
Ideally we'd like places that has good, moderately priced food, little to no wait, and non-slow service.
Also if you have any recs for a park in the vicinity, that would be a huge bonus.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions!
Your best lentil soup recipe?
I have been making different versions of lentil soup, and so far my favorite is Emeril's (cringe). I need some new ideas though - I like them all! I've been looking for a great harira recipe, as well as a truly French version, but throw them all my way... Thanks!
Largemount of roasted red peppers- what to do?
I have two large leftover jars of roasted red peppers and not many recipes I have found use more than just a few. Any ideas?
I know soup is an option, but was trying to find something a little more interesting than just plain roasted red pepper soup...
Thanks!
Ideas for a non-smoked ham hock?
We find ourselves with one medium sized non-smoked ham hock. I thought maybe of cassoulet but haven't had any other ideas yet. Any thoughts?
Modern Greek Cuisine - need cookbook advice!
I'm looking for a GREAT cookbook for Greek cuisine, not necessarily the absolute most authentic recipes of old, but a modern take. If anyone is familiar with the Bay Area upscale Greek restaurants of Kokkari or Evvia, that's what Im aiming for. A healthy twist would be a bonus but is not necessarily a requirement! Thanks in advance...
Pickled Green Tomatoes - What do I do with them?
Bought a jar of these by mistake (Bubbies brand). Any ideas on how to use them in an interesting way?
Anyoe tried Ikaros in Oakland?
I've been complaining about the lack of Greek food in the area and recently noticed this place in Grand Lake. Anyone have any experiences there?
What to do with Cream Sherry?
Bought it to use a small amount for a soup.
How does it differ from using regular sherry in recipes?
How do I best use up the rest of the bottle? Recipe ideas??
Lebanese Recipes?
I am fascinated iwth Lebanese cuisine and hoping to start making some at home. Anyone have any great recipes or ideas?
Lebanese Restaurant or Take Out?
Anywhere in the Bay Area, but especially East Bay or San Francisco - is there ANY place for really good, authentic Lebanese cuisine? If so, what are the best dishes?
Help convert a meat eater to vegetarian dinners!
OP here - I was looking for "vegetarian dinners" -primarily no meat, but ideally avoiding bacon grease, chicken stock, etc but allowing for dairy/eggs. However, all ideas are welcome - I have already tried quite a few on here so thank you all!!
Cream of ____ Soup - Best Ideas?
This sounds great! I have a ton of garbanzos too. Could you provide some rough proportions? DO you leave any of the beans whole?
What are your tried and true favorites from Epicurious.com
Yes, Stroganoff recipe is the only one I will make. I add a lot more cognac (about 1/4 cup) and use nonfat sour cream. Its fantastic.
Recipes to use up Cream Cheese (besides frosting)?
Through a series of random occurrences, I find myself with a large amount of whipped cream cheese in the fridge. I have heard its nice to put some into pasta sauce, but other than that I have no clue. Any ideas?
Cream of ____ Soup - Best Ideas?
Woah, this sounds great! Would you share the recipe?
Cream of ____ Soup - Best Ideas?
I have a LOT of cream left over from holiday cooking nad this time I'd rather not just let it go bad. I'm in the mood for soup, and have just made some delicious cream of sorrel soup with our own sorrel. Other than the obvious (broccoli) any other ideas for GREAT creamy soup?
Arizmendi Bran Muffin Recipe
I just logged on to find this very same thing, though I know the thread is old. Anyone?
Argan Oil - How to use?
I've got two bottles of argan oil (one roasted, one not) - any thoughts on how to use it?
Help convert a meat eater to vegetarian dinners!
I've gotten my solidly meat-centric husband to agree to 2 vegetarian dinners at home per week. (For perspective, this is the guy who said many years ago that he'd take me to Greens for my birthday "if we can go somewhere else after" haha!) So we're making serious progress here.
So now I need some really amazing ideas to make sure he doesn't miss the meat! All ideas welcome...
Ultimate breakfast sandwich
The best breakfast sandwich I've ever had is a big buttermilk biscuit, with 2 scrambled eggs, melted sharp cheddar and applewood smoked bacon - Blue Jay Cafe in San Francisco.
Thanksgiving - your BEST side dishes
Would LOVE you to post the recipes! I will be getting this cookbook for Christmas, but it would be awesome to get a jump start especially if you think the recipes are particularly good.
Thanksgiving - your BEST side dishes
I'm trying to collect some ideas, as my family has volunteered to bring most all the sides since I'm hosting this year and wanted me to give them the receipes to execute :)
So what are the sides you serve that are always gone FIRST, year after year?
First Time Thanksgiving Host - Need your FOOLPROOF Roast Turkey Recipe!
I'm hosting my large family for the first time this year. They are a forgiving lot but I'd like to avoid making a terrible turkey if possible. We're getting a 16 pounder heritage breed from our meat CSA so I know that the bird itself will be good, subject to my newbie preparations :)
If any of you experienced chefs out there have a great, foolproof recipe for roast turkey, please speak up!
Thanks in advance...
Tapas Crawl in Granada - Itinerary?
I've found a lot of sites on this topic, but not much in CH itself. Any suggestions for specific tapas bars/dishes in Granada? Thank you!
ISO excellent locals-only lunch spots in Seville
Reasonably priced, casual, child-friendly, awesome home cooking styles especially...
Thanks in advance!
URGENT! Paris: ISO exceptional small, neighborhood spots in the 6th arr.
Thank you for your suggestions! Yes, I should clarify that they would be happiest in places NOT overrun with tourists, but more frequented by people who live nearby and have a quiet glass of wine and meal at the end of the day.
