Birthday dinner in SF for 18 year old

My son is turning eighteen soon and wants to head into SF for a birthday dinner meal. Would like to have a restaurant with a fun atmosphere and great food. He loves meat but will eat almost anything. Thinking of a place like house of prime. Would like a restaurant that is a little more formal than a hole in the wall place. Price is not a consideration. Thank you.

Birthday dinner with teen boys in SF

We have a tradition of taking our boys to the city for dinner for my birthday. We would like to go on a weekend in late January. I would like to find a fun place that we all could enjoy. My husband and I like most any kind of food and although money isn't a primary concern my boys who are 17 and 16 like to eat a lot and so we don't want to spend a ton of money on food they will just gulp down. I was thinking maybe house of prime rib but would prefer a little more variety of choices. Any suggestions?

Causal dinning near ferry building [San Francisco]

Thanks for you responses so far. Actually we will be there next Tuesday. Tadich seems a bit too formal for us for lunch. the waterfront rest. looks like a good possibility.

Causal dinning near ferry building [San Francisco]

Here's a challenge. Folks coming to visit next week to see America's cup boats. We will be arriving on the ferry from marin. The plan is to walk to see the boats and then have a casual lunch. Pops can't walk too far and won't stand for a long wait. Would like good food in a causal setting. Must be a place that we can sit and eat comfortably. Any kind of food is o.k. I think ferry building may be too hectic. Any suggestions appreciated.
