I tried this and it didn't work at all. My bowl was super cold, the half and half was in the freezer for about an hour. It just frothed and looked like it was working but it immediately fell (or turned into bubbles that looked like they were alive).
I wouldn't try it again. Go back to the store and buy whipping cream.
I'm about to bake some bread that calls for crushed cardamom seeds. I only have ground cardamom and I'm hoping this is a reasonable substitute for baking.
I don't think cumin would be as nice ground as it is in seed form in bread, so this is what's making me think it might not work as well.
Anyone tried using ground cardamom in bread?
I have 12 people coming over for a dinner tomorrow. I am making a vegetarian version of chicken pot pie for all. I want to do as much as I can today - my one bedroom apartment won't facilitate me doing much cooking with that many people here.
The pot pie has loads of veggies, and a cream base (and veggie "cheekin" strips) so it's quite heavy.
It must be vegetarian (dairy is okay), but I would love suggestions on a soup to start and a side dish or salad to go with the pot pie. What salad can be made one day ahead that goes with this? Quinoa? Coleslaw? Or green beans? Brussell sprouts?
