Do you have any food “kicks”?

@chefathome

any tips on BBQ sauce.... I met a self proclaimed chef that saved his pork drippings in a mason jar for a day, or two, and used the liquid (bottom) part of those drippings to start his sauce, so I use bacon to start my sauce??

Go to Late Night Snack

I am a fat person, so I don't want to come off as a health conscious person at all, but ....

I like to cut the tops off of mini peppers, and eat like 6 or 7 of them while I check my late night emails, texts, and FB messages.

I like to make sauces...

I'll make some french fries, or potato chips, or pita, or tortilla chips in my oven

I'll put like old bay on them, or kosher, or Garlic&Parmesan, or creole......Then it is sauce time!

I don't know if anyone has ever made their own mayonnaise, or BBQ sauce, or ranch..... but

It makes me get creative especially if I am missing an ingredient, and have to substitute !

Food Market,in/near Atlanta

I agree with @atlfoodie, Sweet Auburn Curb Market on 209 Edgewood Ave is AWESOME TOO

but they close at 6pm some shops as early as 4p.m. like my buddy's shop YumDiggity!

Star Provisions does not close until 10p.m.

Also remember that both markets are closed on Sunday!

Your opinion on BEST Brunch in ATL? (price & location not a factor)

@ted...
I understand! here is the picture, that I am trying to paint.........
Both of these restaurants are owned by the same person..right? Hugh A.
*
Empire State S. = Atlantans scarfing down trout mousse, sweetbreads& pate.
*
5&10 =(in Athens) 3 course Prix-Fixe menu with suggested wine pairings for$45
*
The difference is that... 5&10 won the James Beard Award this May & does not serve trout mousse, sweetbreads, or pate.
<I'm going to shut up now.. I made my point 3 X >

Southern Art Restaurant & Bourbon Bar @ The Intercontinental Hotel Buckhead

Hey y'all...

I just found a great new place to have some great food & a Perfect Drink......

My Previous favorite bars in Atlanta :

Holeman & Finch - Peachtree 2009
Prohibition - Buckhead 2010
Sound Table - Edgewood 2011
Ormsby's - West Midtown 2012

I suggest sitting at the Bourbon Bar & having a drink first before you are seated in the restaurant.

Drink : Bourbon!

Appetizer : Shrimp & Grits

Entree : Roasted Half Maple Leaf Duckling

Dessert : The Cheese Platter..of course!

Also the Newly re-designed Décor there just makes you want to Live There! Has anyone been??

@ted This is a opinion website..
I think you mistakenly grouped two of my sentences together, that I meant to be read separately...so I understand why you flipped out on short ribs.

Without coming off as an A-hole..I wanted to explain myself.

Short ribs come from the shoulder, and are used for burgers, tacos, e.c.t.
Hanger steak is from the plate, and is used for burgers, tacos, e.c.t.
Chicken Liver is a chicken by-product (like blood, bones, heart, and gizzard)
*not for human consumption* if a chef told you to eat chicken gizzards...would you?
Sweetbreads...I shouldn't tell you this, but chefs can serve you a ton of weird appendages, and put "sweetbreads" on the menu with no further information.
This list includes testicles, ballz, tongues, ears, stomach scraps, and the list goes on...
**NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION*** GOOGLE sweetbread if YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME & READ THE WIKI Definition...

Educate yourself !

Dessert in ATL

#1 Chocolate F/X......bacon caramels....and booze chocolate, and MORE...
#2 Star Provisions Market @ Bacchanalia.... the #1 restaurant is closed for lunch, so basically some of the chefs work at the market during the day..

+1 For the absolutely best Red Velvet cupcake in Atlanta you have to go to Cami Cakes. +1

Your opinion on BEST Brunch in ATL? (price & location not a factor)

@ted...You are right about two things.
1.) 12:30 on Sunday ...fact!
2.) Joel's kitchen was the BEST in the south, not just Atlanta for like 5 years...Fact!

***Chefs at these trendy spots are selling Atlanta Diners the scraps that usually were ground into meat glue, pink slime, hot dogs, and burger meat...like for instance....
sweetbreads, or hanger steak, or chicken liver pate.**** & most importantly...Short Ribs*****
EVERY chef knows that the neck, entrails, and the bottom hanging meat from ANY animal.. is not for human consumption...unless Joe Rogan is there with a briefcase!
Same thing with fish scraps & call it spicy tuna, or imitation crab sticks for California rolls!!!.

My second suggestion is Marlow's tavern..bottomless drinks, and all you can eat brunch.

Looking for great crab cakes

"The answer to your inquiry is... there is NO fresh crab meat served continuously & consistently in Atlanta.

Atlanta is a "Land Locked" city ...Savannah has a river that leads into the Ocean..

My Suggestion is.....Chart House in Savannah, GA ...The Crab cake is all knuckle (lump) & NO FILLER!!

Debate for a Foodie coming to Atlanta

**If you plan on having a designer Handbag with you, an iPad, & an iPhone with headphones..& being dressed up looking like $1,000.000 bucks...don't read this****

$5 *round trip* bus ride from downtown ....Take the # 1 bus, OR the #12 bus, and both buses will take you to and from bacchanalia, Abattoir , and JCT kitchen.
You would need to start at the corner of Marietta st & (Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd/Joseph E. Boone) **which is a block or 2 from the convention center you will be at**

Also...the #12 bus will also take you to the midtown train station...which is a block & a half walk from Empire state south!
"the MARTA buses in Atlanta are safe ...... if you use common sense"

Just around the corner. Where is the place to eat before/after a Braves game?

If you have kids, or are married *don't read this**...I would suggest HANDS DOWN...

Alluvia Restaurant @ The Cheetah Gentleman's Club on 887 Spring Street NW

your Atlanta Braves ticket stub will get you into the strip club for FREE...and the food is to "Spec".
Try the ..WHOLE or HALF blackened lobster with creamy cheese grits! and the go look at some... shoe models! cheers!

Baci Restaurant - Fayetteville very good and very bad

1.) I'm sorry that this situation happened to you.
2.) There is a big difference between Great customer service, & "the customer is always right."
3.) Groupon makes money by keeping approx. half the money the customer pays. $9.50
4.) The Restaurant Baci (without me speaking for them) probably wanted NEW CUSTOMERS to TRY 1appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 wines by the glass, & 1 dessert..
& NOT TO...for instance ...order (2) Artichoke salads for $23 & pay the $4 difference, and miss out on their appetizers, wine, and desserts...kinda like a Prix-Fixe Menu
5.) The Restaurant Baci ended up paying Groupon $9.50 for you to use an expired coupon!
