Where to eat in LA on a long weekend

Kinda....

And yes, it would be helpful to get more detailed info from the OP, but she hasn't seemed to get around to that yet.....

burgers

Golden state was a good burger, but not blown away by it.... And though I love arugula, I'm getting sick of the tender greens on a burger and am starting to prefer and respect a decent amount of crunch and coolness that iceberg provides.....

Best view and most beautiful restaurant in LA : Nobu Malibu. We can all agree on that. Everything else is up for aggressive debate.

But a burrito is almost always filled with rice.....it's the standard cheap filler.

LA restaurant not too far from Woodland Hills

+3 for Saddle Peak Lodge.

Or you can continue over the hill into Malibu and do Nobu Malibu, the most beautiful restaurant in LA right on the sand. Then again, you may want to do something other than another Asian/sushi place, but he has lovely dishes other than sushi.

Nice place that's easy access from Encino?

N/naka is spectacular, but may or may not impress your friend from Singapore. But I would do the 13 course tasting menu with sake pairings if you do.

Otherwise, Saddle Peak Lodge would definitely be different and interesting for your friend.

Melisse is very nice and high end fine dining. Probably one of the finest in the city. You won't be disappointed with Melisse, but depending on what day you decide to go, plan on plenty of extra time to get there due to traffic. Your table will be ready even if you are early.

Fuddruckers Santa Monica (Again)

It's one of those machines where you can make a ton of different variations of all the Coke products coming from one spout.... Its digital and very cool. My kids love it.

DineLA Summer 2014 Picks (7/14-7/27)

I've got to agree with you.... Although there are many places offering the special that I have not tried and would like to, the hassle of getting there for lunch, not to mention dinner, as traffic of late has been HORRIFIC all day everywhere I seem to go. (What is up with construction in EVERY road I travel on lately?? It's as if the city of LA thinks they are on the east coast or Alaska and can only get road projects done over the summer?!) then you get there, service sucks because they're packed, dishes are pared down of ingredients or portions or both, and that all equates to an experience that does not measure up, in my book. Seems to me, after all of that, it's no longer a bargain... I would rather pay the full price of meal, and have a much more leisurely and enjoyable experience all around, hence why I have not gone to one yet.

WHO HAS THE BEST PIZZA IN L.A. AND WHY?

Gotta say, I like the crust at Grimaldi's better, SB is just a touch too sweet for me.... And I found G's to be more generous with the toppings. I mean seriously, that photo looks awful skimpy on the sausage.....

Hahaha, yea it is a great age. And I know what you mean about growing up...happens way too fast. My oldest will be 13 going on 20 in six weeks..... He turned into a teenager overnight a while back. Scary.
