Best dim sum in Boston?

The food is pretty much the same, China Pearl has a slight edge.
For more effect, check out Emperor's Garden on Washington, it's in a former opera house(later it was a kungfu movie theater, watched too many Bruce Lee there.).

H-Mart Burlington!!!

Thank you and Eatin in Woostah for the coupon idea.
T-bone steak at $7.99 for choice grade is not exactly legit sales price.
Nothing to complain about free eggs though, lol.

Decent Steak? Near MIT/Central?

Legal Seafood's surf and turf may be another option?

H-Mart Burlington!!!

Went there first time, it's a big zoo. A dozen or so police details were helping on directing traffic. Heard the neighboring Market Basket got mad at H-Mart's customers for parking in its lot.
A lot of food there. Picked up some baby-head sized Fuji apples, dry persimmons, very-well marbled short ribs (Gaabi $4.99lb), belt fish (from Korea, really good even though pricey at $10lb), small whole flounder @$2.49lb was not great more like sole, prob mis-labeled. etc.
Wanted to get some moon-cakes, at $9 a box but was told a mountain pile was sold out yesterday within an hour.
Way too crowded, esp. in the food court area. People eating cha chiang mian off the shopping cart. LOL.
Chines buns were good, so was the Masala chicken from the Indian stand (the poor guy, no one was buying except us)
Will check it out again when things are not so crazy.

Prime Beef @ Costco

Costco definitely offers great value for beef. We've been buying there for years. I know Savenor, used to live two blocks away from the original store on Kirkland St.
But you need to be careful in selecting meat at Costco: the grades on prime beef is not high, compared w say WF.
Some of the prime rib eyes have much marbling.
I find the beef tenderloin there consistently good. Since prime or not, that cut is always tender. $8.99/lb is hard to beat.

Hanger steaks

You can get from Costco.

Hanger steaks

Flat iron steak and top Blade Steak are two different cuts from the same Infraspinatus muscle. Flat iron is cut parallel to the large band of connective tissue, while top blade steak is cut cross-sectionally and you see white tough tissue in the middle. Flat iron is a bit more expensive because of the extra loss and obviously is preferred.

Best Duck dishes in the Boston area?

LOL, I've been eating wonton soup with roast duck at HK eatery for the last few months now, as lunch. Perfect for weathering the cold here. Their roast duck is consistently good.

Anyone know whats going on with "Kingston" in Downtown Crossing?

Just came back from lunch there. Found this thread before I was heading over to meet a friend. We used to meet at Peking Tom to catch up and were surprised to find out the place changed hands but went there anyway.
We both ordered salads, his was chicken and mine was steak au poivre. The salads were good, though smallish, the meat was done right (i.e. rare) and the balsamic vinaigrette was very balsamic. But the waiting for food was an hour! There were about 4-5 times that someone stopped by to assure the food was on the way. It was a nice lunch but not a good experience. The manager was courteous and didn't charge us for the lunch entries.
It could be a good place if you're not under any time constraint.
Not crazy about the deco. Tiles on the wall and floor, and it has the feel of a big old bathroom from an art deco building of the 30's. The worst part is that the tiles echo a lot, so the front area has this constant white noise from superpositions of the echos.
But it's fun to check out and see who's the successor to the place w a funny name.
