Wifi cafes, diners in seattle
I can't concentrate if I stay at home so I prefer going out to coffee shops and diners to write, drink coffee and eat a light snack. So far I've gone to Cafe Presse and El Diablo Cafe, but I'd like some other suggestions, preferably with available parking. What are your recommendations for places in the Seattle area?
Calzone in Seattle
Piecoras across the street from Chop Suey. They have their own parking garage and their calzones could feed a family of four!

Queen Anne Take Out??
On Upper Queen Anne I like Malenas Taco Shop and Ototo Sushi. There's also Via Tribunali pizza and if you're around during farmers market season there's food and the Skillet trailer next to Bartells every Thursday. They should all have to-go available.

Yummy Eats in Seattle for a Newbie =)
I eat at Pamelas Fine Foods all the time! A line develops around lunchtime, especially on weekdays, but it is definitely under $15 and its definitely worth it! Also don't forget about Minimus-Maximus pulled pork sandwiches. Absolutely within your budget.

best burger in seattle
I like the burger at Skillet - it's deceptively small but a real gut bomb and I love that bacon jam! Red Mill is always satisfying when I want a more traditional bacon cheeseburger and I've been a regular at the Hurricane for years. There are a lot of burger options in Seattle, but I'd recommend staying away from Kort Haus on Phinney Ridge. Their exotic meat burgers were awful.

Seattle's Best Sandwiches
I work in downtown Seattle and my favorite places for sandwiches are
Skillet http://www.skilletstreetfood.com/
Maximus/Minumus truck http://www.maximus-minimus.com/
Pamela's Fine Foods http://www.pamelasfinefoods.com/
Waffle Hot Dogs
I've seen the episode of No Reservations where Tony Bourdain eats at Puka Dog in Waikiki but it made me nostalgic for the good old KC Drive Inn waffle dogs. Are they still around? Has anyone seen these?
Any Philly Cheesesteak's in SEA worth trying?
There was a Philly Cheesesteak hut right under the freeway overpass near the lightrail tracks along MLK Way south in Columbia City. I think it was called Original Phillys, but I never made it back that way. I remember it looked like a winner when we drove past.
Downtown Lunch Seattle
I was hoping to get some recommendations for delicious lunch options in the downtown Seattle area. I work in the medical/dental building across from Westlake Center and I generally have 45min - 1 hour for lunch. Are there any can't miss lunch spots I should try? I'm especially interested in spots near Pike Place.
UK Walkers Roasted Chicken Crisps
Does anyone know where I can get a bag of Roasted Chicken potato chips like I had in London? I have a sudden craving for them and can't find these anywhere!
Lunchbox Laboratory Revisited
Good point - it has been awhile since I visited the Lab and you're absolutely right about being repeat patrons at our favorite restaurants in these times.
Maneki or Nishino? (seattle)
I'm sure everyone's already found this, but as Nishino is being discussed here I thought I'd throw a link out from Nishino for their complimentary "Autumn Omakase"

Lunch in Downtown Seattle
My work recently relocated to downtown Seattle and I'm looking for quick, delicious and hopefully, more authentic, lunch options than the offerings at Westlake Center's food court. I usually take a quick 30 minute lunch, so quicker is better. Does anyone have any suggestions for the Nordstrom area?
hawaiian food places in seattle
As a transplant myself, I'd suggest Kona Kitchen on 5th Ave NE and Hawaiian Breeze in Wallingford. Both have great food and Kona Kitchen has a bar and wide-screen TV for watching UH Warriors games.

Quinn's, Capitol Hill, Seattle
We tried Quinn's for the first time last night, and had a marvelous dinner! My favorites were, of course, the pear/walnut/frisee salad and the incredibly decadent oxtail/marrow/gnocchi dishes. Our server was incredibly friendly, made a wonderful wine recommendation and told me that Quinn's is currently considering a plate of marrow bones and bread for their menu. Perfect! We also loved the lemon creme brulee and the side of citrus zest that came with our after-dinner espresso.
My only criticism would have to be the same as jjmccoy - they need to offer bread or something else to sop up the sauces. Otherwise, it's an instant favorite and sure to become a regular for many of my friends.
Late night romantic dining in Seattle?
I agree that Cafe Presse isn't always the most romantic, though it's usually a little quieter in the back room. Definitely suggest Crush for a late evening, Tango in Capitol Hill and Volterra in Ballard which is open until 11pm Fri/Sat.
Japanese recomendations
Definitely second the Nishino recommendation. Also try Flo in Bellevue for delicious seasonal specials, and Fort St. George in the International District for the kind of day-to-day food you won't find at most Japanese restaurants.
Koi Japanese Restaurant in Bellevue
I agree with your review of Koi. A family member suggested I try this restaurant because they serve lunch on weekends, but it wasn't a memorable meal. The decor was beautiful and the owner's two younger children were waiting/bussing our tables which gave the restaurant a "family business" charm. If I lived on the Eastside, I'd eat there occasionally, but I still recommend Flo to friends who want delicious Japanese food in Bellevue.
Quick lunch in Fremont
I got the pulled pork sandwich and truffle fries yesterday at the Baguette Box and loved it. I think they could use an additional family-style dining table, but it was a beautiful day so I ate outdoors. Thanks for this recommendation!
Quick lunch in Fremont
I recently started working in the central Fremont neighborhood and was wondering if anyone had recommendations for a good, quick lunch around the area. I usually take a 30-45 min break, so fast, prompt service is key but I'd rather not eat Taco Del Mar everyday.
Thanks!
Maximillien's Review
I've always loved their mussels and boullaibasse, and you're right about the warm and inviting atmosphere. They have beautifully aged wood tables and chairs which really add to the charm, though I've always felt maybe the ceilings were unusually low.
Cassis was great. Anyone know where the chef went?
Wholesale seafood in Seattle
There's a great selection of seafood at Mutual Fish down Rainier Ave, just a few minutes from Seattle. Otherwise, check out some grocers around Chinatown, there are always lots of selections at Bahn Mi or Viet Wah.

Brands of Cast Iron Skillets
I have a 9" Lodge skillet and I love it for making crabcakes. If you're shopping for this brand, you might try outdoor gear distributors. They tend to be less expensive there than at kitchen stores. Here's a link to Lodge online:

Where can I buy Saimin
Actually, I just bought a pack of Sun noodles here in Seattle, so they must be exporting it outside of Hawaii. I've heard there are good local eats around Torrance, CA, maybe theres a retailer there?
Recs for Best Greek Restaurant - Seattle
I've always liked Nikis Gyros on 32 Ave in Magnolia and Panos Kleftiko on 5th Ave just past the Seattle Center. The folks at Panos Kleftiko just returned from a family trip to Greece and maybe some new recipes?
Blood Sausages in SEA?
I've seen blood sausages at A&J meats, though they don't always have them on hand. Call ahead to see if it's worth the trip

Takohachi (SEA) to close
I tried ordering the ramen and gyoza last night and they had sold out again. I'm hoping they start buying more ramen for the restaurant so we can all try it. Otherwise, the dishes we ordered were delicious and the interior was very nice.
soup bones
I got my soup bones at the Ballard Sunday market from Olsen farms. They usually have a great selection of bones including marrow bones, oxtail, etc. When I asked the seller, she said they also go to the U-District market and will probably be around until at least Thanksgiving. I've always had great product from them.
PNW Region??
Hey Chowhounds - since I'm new here, I was wondering if anyone knew why there isn't a PNW region in the Places drop down menu?? I think it would really help for those visitors wanting downtown restaurant recommendations, etc.
