Make the dishes my parents and aunt/grandma made when we were kids
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
Roasted chicken with herb butter tucked under the skin and stuffed with aromatics--roasted resting on potatos and carrots so that some of the fat goes into it. Then basted into french bread. So basically chicken fat.
My favorite comfort food:
Funions? Chicken-in-a-biscuit! Shepherd's Pie! And Chinese powdered steamed ribs! And BBQ pork buns, scallion pancakes, chaat, um... Japanese curry and rice.
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
So many, so hard to choose! Depends on price range, but City Market in Luling, Fu 1039, Chez L'ami Jean, Zaika, and Sun Sui Wah. But my more normal wallet pleasures are Cuban friend chicken (La Dinastia China,) boudin (Cochon Butcher,) ramen (Ippudo,) chaat (Udipi Cafe,) sushi (Sushi of Gari,) and tex-mex (so many!)
