Roadtrip to Yellowstone from NYC: Local eats & farm stands?

Thank you Kagemusha49!!! I saw your reply just now. Hmm...hey, surprise, surprise, Google doesn't always know best. I will now consider a different route. Good thing KOA campgrounds are everywhere, so finding new accommodations won't be hard. Thanks to this trip planning, I'm learning so much about the Midwest. Traveling is good!

The RV museum is in Elkhart, Indiana. Thanks Wyogal for the great local tips!!!! It would take me another month of internet research to come up with all that. I'm just going to copy + paste what you wrote directly into my schedule. My brain's fried, but thank goodness for the internet and for y'all kind folks!

Nope, we don't have a camper. But we will be stopping at the RV Museum! That's a great idea to see Mt. Rushmore- I was just thinking about it yesterday, and dismissed the idea because I thought it wouldn't be on the way, but it actually is! I'm going to re-arrange my itinerary now, it would be awesome to go there.

Hi! We're a family of slowpokes, so I think 500 miles is optimistic. We'll be taking lots of bathroom breaks, for one thing. Oh no, construction in Nebraska... thanks for the warning! Yes, Runzas- I have read mixed reviews on Runzas, but will still look out for them. We are going end of June, and staying outside the park in Jackson Hole. Thanks!

Roadtrip to Yellowstone from NYC: Local eats & farm stands?

Hi,
We're going on a road-trip from NYC to Yellowstone, speeding through the Midwest, covering 500 miles/day with 2 drivers. However, I don't want to miss the chance to try local foods. We will pass through Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, and Wyoming.

I have been doing a lot of research, but still would like some more help. I have Das Dutch Essenhaus, Machine Shed, and pork tenderloin down. Casual, family-friendly places would be perfect.
Not really big on sweets. But we are big fans of farm stands and local, in season foods.

All suggestions welcome, from highway routes to farm stands. Any must-see, must-stop, must-eat, only in the Midwest, places? We'll be staying in KOA campgrounds the whole way.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
