Oh yes, the smell of liver! I have been warned. Went ahead and ordered a very basic dehydrator so that the stinky stuff can been done in the garage! It also comes with a "gun" thing that make ground meat into jerky sausages. But no my dogs are not spoiled!

In my house we call chicken jerky "Dog Crack" ! I have stopped buying anything made in China and the USA stuff is terribly expensive, so I am on a mission to make my own.

Is it necessary to spend big $$$ on the dehydrator or are there any "must have" features that you would recommend? The Amazon prices are all over the map.

My Papillon and Greyhound girls get canned pumpkin with their kibble and LOVE IT. I tried to make homemade chicken jerky and sweet potato treats in the oven on about 150. They must taste great but it took hours!!!!! Anyone making jerky in the oven or dehydrator? Any hints or tips?

Ditto - please explain! I'm headed northeast soon and would like to seem semi-intelligent!
