Question About Wang's Vegetarian Dumplings
Wang's in Somerville has both Spinach and Leek dumplings and if I remember correctly, one of them has tofu and one does not. Can anyone tell me which has it?
Thanks!
Al Dente, Santarpio's or Regina???????????
I also agree with this. Regina's then Modern. (I've only been to Santapio's once and did not get all the love for that pizza at all.)
October 2011 Openings and Closings
In Harvard Square where most recently the short lived Congo was, there are paper signs up saying a Sushi/Wine Bar is coming soon. There is no activity going on inside the space that I can tell.
September 2011 Openings and Closings
I think that Posto opened before Coppa did.

Adrian's Truro?
There is no longer any review by "Mark". Makes me wonder if Mark removed it or the Yelp people did -- there was a story that Yelp helped those that paid them and hurt those that didn't.
Patricia Yeo to OM in Harvard Square
I had read that Yeo would be back in the area soon and this confirms where: http://campaign.r20.constantcontact.com/render?llr=h4gxrvbab&v=001AYtQarwRIsBsLInH_IpUKWC1zdG9-xmkoxJz10xRfn1aU6_R9vJZah06BRSzabMa2-MfZWtNRITklGzej1rJqEGOHgzUWd6lQpuIK2m5ufFjeDQ42SMTaQ%3D%3D (terrible choice of font in the bio).
great meal at Bondir
Small Plates:
Is that Coeur de Boeuf vegetarian or is it actually some type of beef?
Would a pescatarian have many options on the menu?
Thanks for your review.
Dave's Pasta In Davis Square, Somerville; What IS My Problem??
I have been a long time fan of Dave's and the pasta and also a long time fan of Bella. At Dave's I've liked the porchini mushroom ravioli and the squash ones. There have been special ones too that I liked as well. Don't overcook - no more than 6 min in already boiling water. I also get sheets of Dave's pasta for when I do lasagna and don't pre-cook them at all -- just treat them like no-boil noodles. The whole wheat pasta and my veggie lasagnas go great together -- I kid you not!
Other items I pick up at Dave's when I am in are wine and bread and cheese. I have also gotten crab/crackers/produce. Definetely certain items can be expensive. Dave is a really nice guy and is always friendly when I see him in the store, taking time to recommend wines or whatever.
At Bella I tend to go for the shaped pasta, ziti or fusilli, or some other. I also get their frozen pumpkin ravioli now and again. I love that they are open on Sunday morning.
Date with a Vegetarian; Indian?
I think the Coppa menu is kinda difficult for a vegetarian.

Birthday Dinner for a Larger Group?
Bistro du Midi on Boylston St in Boston has a private room the perfect size for 10. I ate there once when they first opened during restaurant week and I thought it was pretty good food-wise, but it did not blow me away either (but they did just open, and it was RW). There was a group in that private room and it looked very nice and they seemed to be throughly enjoying themselves.

Kitchenaid Stand Mixer color choices
The Burlington Mall has a Sur la Table and a Williams Sonoma. You can try calling both stores to see which colors they have on display and if together they cover the ones you want to see in person, then make a trip there.

low fat, vegetarian restaurant in Gloucester?
Alchemy has a few things that might work. This is their new lunch menu: http://www.alchemybistro.com/01_menus/lunch_menu.php
What to avoid in Rockport/Gloucester Area?
Could this be Topside Grill & Pub in Glouc? I have never been inside or eaten there. They advertise a low price lobster dinner... like $14 or something like that.

Food Network Food Feud Woodman's vs. Farnham's - Filming Final Decision Today in Ipswich
This is from an email my husband got from Woodman's (personally, we are Farnham's fans but can't go anyway since have to work):
***Food Networks Food Feud - Woodman's vs. Farnham's***
The Food Network looks for loyal fans to show support to their favorite fried clam spot.
The Food Network team rolled into Essex today [7/13] to film a show highlighting fried clams in Essex culminating in a “fried clam showdown” between Woodman’s and Farnham’s, two longstanding Essex food establishments and friendly rivals. The filming of the final decision is taking place from 1:00-5:00 on Wednesday July, 14th and fans are needed for the filming. So we need all Woodman’s die hards to come by Steep Hill Beach in Ipswich [the beach down the hill from the Crane's estate] and show your support to your favorite clam shack and vocalize your allegiance - Bring your signage, wear your shirts and get ready to cheer – you just might end up on national TV! The show is scheduled to be aired in early Fall 2010.
* Host: The Food Network
* Location: Steep Hill Beach, Argilla Rd. Ipswich MA
(If it rains join us under the tent at Woodman's)
* When: July 14, 2010
Please support Woodman's of Essex in the battle of the best fried clam! The Food Network will be announcing whose clams are the best...Woodman's or Farnhams. If you can make it, bring a sign or poster with you showing your support for Woodman's, (like they do on the morning shows in NY) you might make it on National TV!!

Bergamot: yes, yes, yes. The Market (Gloucester): no, thanks
Bergamot had very tasty food, but I thought the portions were teeny tiny for the price. I went w/ a couple of girlfriends and none of us eat huge portions but we all had to order our own app and entree to have enough to feel that we had a satisfying meal out.
Went to The Market in Gloucester last night and I thought it was wonderful. We brought a bottle of white wine and they opened/poured, put it on ice and refilled throughout the meal. The menu is small and changes nightly. Last night they had one pasta/veg meal, shortribs (husband got) & seafood stew (I got -- really delishious). They had a seared tuna starter and someone sitting near me asked to order it as an entree and they happily obliged. It looked really good. Staff is super nice and the service was great. I don't consider $10 too much since the markup on the wine would be more than that at most places anyway. I still consider it a savings to bring my own and pay $10. (I even think the Causway in Gloucester charges corkage fee.)
Best Pizza on North Shore???
I had pizza at the new Giuseppe's this weekend and thougth it was very good. It would have been "really, really" good if it was not over cooked. The sauce flavor was not sweet, and it had a nice crust. They just barely opened -- don't even have their full menu yet -- and just that one overcharred pie is not enough to go on. Definetely will be trying it again soon.
I like Riverview in Ipswich and for Glosta we've been going to LaRosa but it usually is undercooked, especially when we get it on Thursday. If we get LaRosa on Friday it is better -- but by no means my favorite.
I like Flatbread in Amsbury and Bedford very much.
I also like the pizza at SOMA restaurant in Beverley but don't get there that much (have not been in the past 10 months).
The Clam Box, Woodman's or Farnham's - which one to choose?
Of the 3 you mention, Farnham's is closest to Salem and Clam Box is the furthest (if that makes any difference). Farnham's also offers more menu variety (grilled fish -- a wonderful grilled haddock sandwich, lobster, etc.) than Clam Box and that's the reason I like it best since I don't like fried foods.

4 Nights in SOBE
I will be in South Beach for my birthday next week w/ my husband and was looking for some guidance on resto's for dinner. I tend to like fresh; healthy; eat/love fresh fish, don't eat meat/poultry; like spice; dislike most French; dislike heavy cream/butter. Also want to seek out places that are cool atmosphere -- different than I can get in Boston, and fun. Willing to spend a little on 2 of the dinners and more moderately on the other 2 dinners.
For birthday night I have Susi Samba Dromo reserved. Is that a good choice?
Then the next night I though upscale pizza/Italian and I have a res at Casale but I wonder if Fratelli La Bufala is better? What is the difference with the food and atmosphere on those 2 pizza places?
Next night what are thoughts on either La Marea at the Tides or Barton G?
And the last night I was thinking Ola?
I would welcome any info &/or advise! Thanks,
Sarah

Flatbread Company Moving into Sacco's Bowl Haven
I had heard a while back that Flatbread was going there (didn't know it was still going to have the bowling) and it has been a long time so I thought it may have fallen thru. I am so psyched to hear this. I love Flatbread pizza. From what you heard, was there an expected opening timeframe?
Lunch in Rockport Area
I wouldn't consider Capt'n Carlos an "upscale lunch spot". Inside is pretty ugly. Outside is much better and can be fun if there is a band (I think there are bands on Sunday afternoons).
Latitude 43 in Gloucester fits the description, as does My Place By the Sea in Rockport.
Best Value Store Bought Champagne or Sparkling Wine?
Could mean not purchased from the vineyard or online.
sofia sparkling wines in cans
Does anyone know if they are any good? Price seems very reasonable.
Ned's Groceria in Gloucester ?
I've seen the A&J King bread at Common Crow (looks like that post was removed). I also like the fresh cobble bread at Alexandra's down on the lower part of Main. I wish they did some whole grain stuff though.
I will miss the wine, cheese, olives & crackers selections from Ned's. The wine selection was not the standard stuff they are selling at the other local liquor stores. And with the wine tastings you got a chance to try before you buy. I always found things that I wouldn't have known to pick up otherwise with the tastings.
That Willow Rest place sounds promising, although that won't be as convenient for me. I have been getting fresh herbs and small amounts of produce at the Common Crow lately (Ned's never had produce), but they really do not have that much. The Fruitful Basket place in Beverly Farms is has wonderful produce. Would love to have that type of selection closer.
Latitude 43, Gloucester
Another new lunch option. Jalapenos is now open for lunch on Fri, Sat & Sun. I always thought they would do will with lunch. Passports is always busy at lunch on those days since it seems like the day visitors flock to Main for a place to dine. This is great that it adds another option.
Latitude 43, Gloucester
I went again a couple weeks ago and had sushi lunch on the deck. Originally they used a weird nori that did not bite off. All was good on this past visit and I am looking forward to going back. My companions enjoyed their fried clams but it does tend toward the pricey side. Our service was v.good on the busy afternoon.
I am also interested in what is going on at Ned's. She's been closed since the beginning of May and I don't think it's about "electrical" or "refrigeration" issues.
Masa --my favorite new spot for brunch
Was this the Woburn or South End Masa? Last time I went to S.End one I was less than impressed (probably a year ago or more). A dinner at the Woburn one about a month ago was really good and I know I will be back soon.
