i think dives may have been used improperly on my behalf or summed up into too large of a category. What i meant was quaint locals only type of places that your average hotel concierge wouldnt know about |

any awesome chinese or japanese dives? or seafood dives?? im from Houston and are mexican food here is amazing, but the Chinese food is above average at best. and SF being so heavily influenced by china n japan and being right by the water...i was hoping for something along those lines. |

hi guys im gonna be in town with the GF from Nov. 8th to the 12th. We are gonna do great places like the Slanted Door, flour n water, wayfare, etc for dinner...but we wanted to know some cheap dive type places that the locals love for lunch. all suggestions are welcome. We love all kinds of food adventures. only restriction is it has to be in city cuz we're goin everywhere by cab. thanks in advance. p.s. -- if u have a suggestion but the place is not cheap, but is a MUST HAVE LUNCH then thats ok too. |

coming to SF Saturday thru Wednesday. so unfortunately saison doesnt have any openings, but my GF and i are suckers for tasting menus. We want a 12 course, 15 course, 37 course (jk) tasting menu. We looked at Coi's menu and it didnt excite us. Any other suggestions. So far we're at All we need is a fine dining spot for Monday Night. And to fill in our Lunch and Breakfast schedule. We prefer local dives for Lunch, even if its a chinese food truck in a back alley thats a gem. |

a couple places i recommend is Pappas Steakhouse. To me its the best in the city. Ive had Vic and Anthony, Mortons, etc. All solid but Pappas beats them in all aspects IMO. Also for fine dining id recommend Marks. Its off Westheimer by the Montrose area. If you come to Houston you should try TEX-MEX. i think we have the best in the Country. 1308 Cantina around the Montrose area is great and for a slightly cheaper option thats a cant miss theres Pappasitos. |

coming to SF Saturday thru Wednesday. Oh and P.S. no Mexican food or BBQ please. Being from TX we're spoiled when it comes to those two subjects and nothing we've had in our travels to the west coast remotely comes close. im sure most Texans on this board would agree with me. |

coming to SF Saturday thru Wednesday. Hi guys. My GF and i wil be coming to SF for 4 days and Nights. We are big foodies from Houston. Last time we were there we had a blast. So we've decided to come back once a year. Any help on places to pick for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and snacks here and there would be awesome. Let me kinda give you a run down of what we're looking for. price is not an issue but quality is. For lunch we like gems, hole in the walls, food carts, dim sum, you name it. For dinner we want fine dining. a Must for us is Michael Mina. We already have that reserved for Saturday night. We're open and undecided about the rest. Saison? Commis? etc. |
