5 If the meat has good flavor why cover it up ? The flavor should be enhanced not changed with flavorings, chemivals and preservatives.
SEE wkipedia
"regular cheese that has been reprocessed along with additional ingredients such as emulsifiers and stabilizing agents, such as xanthan gum or carrageenan. These products derive their tanginess and flavor from additional ingredients such as citric acid and flavoring compounds. Annatto is used for coloring"

1 Read the ingredients.
2 Hydrogenated oil and trans fats are not cheese or food.
3 The ORIGINAL sandwich was created decades before WHIZ.
4 Maybe American "dheese" but provolone is better.

Ok I'll be in German town and Drexel hill but I will have a car.

Thanks for the great ideas but even more will be appreciated. I will be going to the convention center at one point. The Masonic temple and probably the Eastern State Penn. I think there is a law that all tourists have to go to independence hall. LOL
Has anyone been to the zoo lately? I'm not big on zoos but I might have some kids with me for a bit who would love it if it's good?
Thanks for all the info.

I've only got a few days in Philly. I need one real cheese steak. No cheese whiz or cheese sauce please. I also need some casual other non tourist food ideas. I am a retired chef but I'm on a tight budget.
Thanks

Meat shop

I need help finding a meat shop I saw in either PA or NJ. It was a small building with a hand painted sign. They made their own smoked sausage.

They carry many meats this chef has never heard of. Every part of the pig +. They listed Chuckers as one of their meats. I asked and was told they were a local small bird. There were many things on the sign I had never heard of.

It's in a very small town. The kind that has broken chairs for sale on the sidewalk in front of the second hand store.

It's about two blocks from the "freeway".

Any help would be appreciated.
