Anything open later in Boston?

I have the same question, for a Sunday night. We want to put the kids to bed and go out for a bite after, if possible. We could drive to another area but prefer to stay local to Brookline.

Golda in Boynton Beach, FL

We ate there tonight and the place was very busy. It has a casual family atmosphere. Service was friendly and accomodating but a bit unpolished. We ordered a sampler platter for appetizers, and ribeye steak, kufta burgers, and lemon tilapia for the entree.

Complimentary appetizers included small portions of several salatim, and pita. These were ok -- nothing too special. Felafel on the sampler platter was delicious, herby and crisp. The cigars and potato buerekas were oily and just ok, though clearly freshly made. We saw many people ordering a sweet and sour cauliflower appetizer that we want to try next time.

The ribeye was thin and cooked a little more rare than ordered but absolutely delcious and tender. The tilapia had a delicious lemon sauce but the fish itself had a strong flavor as if it had been frozen. I did not taste the kufta but the portion was generous and enjoyed by my MIL. Mashed potatoes were fresh and a great chunky texture, and brocoli was also fresh though plain.

With prices significantly less than Grill time, we will try this restaurant again and see it as a fine place to bring the kids. It had a relaxed feel and we were not rushed. Oh, and refills on sodas appeared to be complimentary. Overall a pleasant visit and if they can get the food consistency up a bit, might be added to our favorites list!

Best kosher in South Florida?

Thanks-- we did not like European corner last year either, but have such nostalgia for the former Eilat Cafe, maybe we will try it out. Has the ownership changed, do you know?

Has anyone else tried Sylvia or Golda ?????

Best kosher in South Florida?

I just wanted to bump up this post in preparation for midwinter vacation. Anything new and notable?

Any good Kosher Cooking websites?

Kosher Certified Canned Artichoke Hearts?

Searching for Gluten-Free, Egg-free or Very Low Egg Hamotzi recipes

I want to make oat challah (the only gluten free grain that qualifies for hamotzi). The only gluten free recipe I have found that I know has enough oat to make hamotzi contains about a half an egg per serving and I am also dealing with a mild egg sensitivity. If I can't find a different recipe I will try to eliminate or sub for half the eggs and see what comes out of the baking tin.... but I suspect it will be hockey pucks. Help!

Best place to order double wrapped food to eat in nonkosher hotel

This is to eat in the hotel room at night during business travel. There will be a meal allowance so price is not so important. We live in the NY area, but we wonder if something decent lurks elsewhere, as long as it will have to be shipped anyway? (Chicago, LA, Miami?????)

Toddler friendly restaurant on UWS

Oh, I should have mentioned this will be for a sunday lunchtime meal.... We could try crowded and noisy, except my friend is BA"H 38 weeks so if its too crowded she may not fit!!! :)

Toddler friendly restaurant on UWS

Thanks for the tips. What are the hashgachas on these restaurants? They are not familiar to me.

Toddler friendly restaurant on UWS

Where can we go for a Sunday lunch/brunch or early dinner with toddlers? We will be with non-kosher eaters so we would like at least decent food and at least decent service. Anything better than that will be considered a bonus!

Anything new & notable near Boca (WPB to Aventura)?

The new place is Asia Wok in Boca Raton. Reviews on Shamash are here http://shamash.org/kosher/comments.php?Recno=11771. We enjoyed it alot -- food, service, and ambiance but I do not remember what we had a year ago. I think I was on a special diet at the time and remember they accomodated me well. We did not order sushi. In addition to their asian menu they have slurpees for the kids in real slurpee cups, which was cute but a a little surprising for this slightly more upscale place ( I mean more upscale than the pita joints mentioned above). It was family friendly and very very busy last year.

Anything new & notable near Boca (WPB to Aventura)?

We are headed to Florida for winter break and hope it will not snow. I am only half joking. Anyway, have any new restaurants or take-out places opened up since last year? Has any new dairy place stepped up in place of the defunct Eilat Cafe? We have been voting for Grill Time for fleishig meals and the new Asian place (I forget the name). Has the quality stayed high in these places?

Searching for the best Chinese cuisine in New Jersey

There is a place in Fair Lawn that is cash only, take out only, and in the past it has been delicious though I am not sure if they have gone down a bit in quality in the past year or so. Its called Kosher Express and its on Morlot.

More reaasonably priced Shabbos Takeout in Boca?

We know and love the kosher marketplace but are trying to be more cost-conscious this year. What other options are there for yummy shabbos takeout -- ie, roast chicken, hot & cold sides, decent deli, soup & challah. We are not into Sally Sherman cole slaw and similar mass-produced grocery store fare. Boca or Boynton Beach are our deographic preferences. Thanks!

Sukkahs in Manhattan?

Which restaurants will have sukkahs this week? Also, does anyone such as chabad set up public sukkas anywhere, such as Central Park? Good moed!

GLUTEN FREE PIZZA

Is it a bready crust or a thin crust? Just want to know what to dream about until I can get there to try it for myself....

GLUTEN FREE PIZZA

Mikes as in Mike's Bistro? Or is this Mikes a dairy place?

Empire Chicken leg price at Costco

Why does my costco not carry empire or any kosher meats? I shop in Clifton NJ. I am totally jealous!

Cross-country road trip! Need Southern Kosher tips!

Alabama has kosher shopping at Publix grocery store on overton road in Birmingham (actually the Vestavia suburb I believe) -- cheese, frozen Empire chicken and Meal Mart beef, and other typical tabachnik and ungers type fare.... There is also (or recently was) a cafe for lunch or takeout at the Orthodox shul -- Kenneseth Israel on Overton.

I have heard that SC has kosher food in Hilton Head and NC near Charlotte... Enjoy the trip!

Kosher food on a cruise

My friends took their own skillet to be used for omelettes in the mornings, and just selected the veggies that they felt they could eat -- ie, tomatoes yes, onions no. They also went on a cruise that required them to bring their own prepackaged meals onboard, and their luggage was delayed, so don't do that. If you have to bring your own, have it shipped ups instead!

Have you traveled to or thru Bangor, Maine?

The shul in Bangor used to have shabbos meals available for purchase, made by the shul ladies in the shul kitchen. This is due to the overwhelming crowds of travelers during some shabboses in the summer-- there was just not enough home hospitality for all the visitors. You could check to see if they are still doing this.

Who ships high quality meats at reasonable prices?

I am renting a vacation home in a remote area of Florida, and rather than shlepping the meat down with me, plan to have it shipped to our vacation spot. We will probably order rib steaks, ground beef or bison, chicken for shabbat, and maybe one or two specialty items if they look appealing (funky sausages, for example).

I am looking at Griller's Pride out of Atlanta -- their prices seem reasonable and they charge a flat 7.5% for shipping. The most accomodating owner even offered to pick up cheese for me from the local market and throw that into my order! Looking for any other vendor suggestions or tips as I have never done this before.

Thanks!

Restaurants near Fort Lauderdale airport, or north of there

Thanks for all the responses. Pagoda is sounding good. We usually dine in Boca as its just south of my inlaws, but my husband is flying into Ft. Lauderdale so we thought we would take advantage of the drive further south. Also happens to be my husband's birthday!!!

Any standouts in Hollywood? Otherwise, its sounding like Pagoda is a winner.

THanks to all who replied

Restaurants near Fort Lauderdale airport, or north of there

I am looking for something nice -- not necessarily fancy but could be -- near the airport or north. I saw something called Thai Taste in sunrise. Is that still open, and is it good? Also, any new restaurants in the Boca / West Palm areas?

Boursin Cheese

I saw Cooks Illustrated use it to make twice baked potatoes -- half in the stuffing and a shmear on top

Lack of Kosher Yogurt

I stir in a few spoonfuls of chocolaty Ovaltine. Yum

Good Curry Paste

Thanks -- why didnt I think of that?

Ponzu

and some sort of sweetener, I think. Its easy to use right out of the bottle, but is not so sickly sweet or thick as teriyaki. I am sure I can mix my own, but using bottled saves time and the mix is always right!

Best Pesach Take-Out in NNJ

Ok, I expect to quite large with child on Pesach so while my house will be clean I will be shopping and cooking little. What is the best take-out for Pesach? We would like less salty, sugary, and fatty gloppy sauces, and more delicious healthy foods. Is Menagerie a good choice? Other suggestions (besides going to parents- unfortunately they dont really keep Pesach )?
