Best Italian in midtown east or upper east side?

I've also had great experiences at Ristorante Morini during my two visits recently. I particularly enjoyed the foie gras and rabbit terrine with figs and the duck confit ravioli. The service was polished and friendly.

Ipsedixit - I don't think it's fair to publicly judge a restaurant based on one visit right when it first opened. The staff was obviously still working out the kinks.

Carnegie or Katz's, and why?

For me, Carnegie is better than Katz.

Why?

- juicier pastrami
- bigger sandwiches
- fewer tourists
- nicer service
- better location

Union Square Cafe clone?

I like BR and NEG but I'm not sure that either restaurant is what you're looking for. NEG might be too fussy and BR too much of a comfort food menu.

I think Hearth captures the spirit of USC though it's less swanky.

The Dutch might work as well.

Reviewing All the Dim Sum at Red Farm UWS (long)

I love RedFarm's creative dim sum. My other favorites include the bass and avocado tart, crispy beef appetizer, and the bacon and egg fried rice. Thanks for this report.

Engagement Dinner for 10-12

I think Blue Ribbon Bakery might be your best option.

Any other private dining room would require at least $1,500 food/beverage minimum, and often, a rental fee, but if there are any exceptions I'd love to hear about them. The Harrison might be a possibility.

Also, try the private dining search function on Opentable.

I'm sure others will chime in on Greek, food trucks and brunch. Personally, I would suggest Colicchio & Sons instead of Craft or Craftbar, and Benoit instead of Bar Boulud.

Best Dishes 2013

We really liked the fried chicken at Ma Peche. Thanks for the recommendation.

Another memorable dish was the veal brains grenobloise at M. Wells at MoMA PS1 though I forgot to take a picture.

Seafood in NYC

If cost was the issue, you could do 3 courses at Le Bernardin for $75 if you go during lunch. Their octopus appetizer is pretty amazing.

Best 3 michelin star Bar dining (no reservations)

The Lounge Menu at Le Bernardin is also worth exploring, particularly the Salmon Rillette and the Warm Lobster and Truffle en Brioche.

You can also get the full Jean-Georges dining room menu at the adjacent Nougatine bar.

Picholine is excellent though the bar is small. I still think that it's still leagues above many Michelin starred restaurants in NYC.

I believe that Del Posto (1 Michelin star) now serves their full menu at the bar, but call to confirm since their policy keeps changing.

I've dined at the communal table at Per Se and enjoyed it. But if your looking to duplicate the experience of the main dining room at a fraction of the price, well, it's just not the same.
