In Soho tonight, good takeout recs?

I haven't been to Hampton Chutney in years but here are a few other choices nearby:

Parm

Not so happening places near Hilton Midtown

Do you really think Benoit and the Modern Bar Room are "happening"? Angelo's Pizza is just barely step above mediocre. Pizzarte and Don Antonio would be better choices for pizza near the Hilton.

Celebrity chef - whose got the best restaurant?

2nd Gato. The food is a bit heavy but quite good.

Best Dishes 2014

Great list. I want to try all of these dishes.

Best Italian in midtown east or upper east side?

I've also had great experiences at Ristorante Morini during my two visits recently. I particularly enjoyed the foie gras and rabbit terrine with figs and the duck confit ravioli. The service was polished and friendly.

Ipsedixit - I don't think it's fair to publicly judge a restaurant based on one visit right when it first opened. The staff was obviously still working out the kinks.

Carnegie or Katz's, and why?

For me, Carnegie is better than Katz.

Why?

- juicier pastrami
- bigger sandwiches
- fewer tourists
- nicer service
- better location

Weekend lunch with 11 month old

Try Untitled at the Whitney Museum and Landmarc at the Time Warner Center.

Union Square Cafe clone?

I like BR and NEG but I'm not sure that either restaurant is what you're looking for. NEG might be too fussy and BR too much of a comfort food menu.

I think Hearth captures the spirit of USC though it's less swanky.

The Dutch might work as well.

Reviewing All the Dim Sum at Red Farm UWS (long)

I love RedFarm's creative dim sum. My other favorites include the bass and avocado tart, crispy beef appetizer, and the bacon and egg fried rice. Thanks for this report.

Update on Peter Luger Meal - Big Disappointment

By "commoners" did you mean younger patrons? Or did you mean something else?

Engagement Dinner for 10-12

I think Blue Ribbon Bakery might be your best option.

Any other private dining room would require at least $1,500 food/beverage minimum, and often, a rental fee, but if there are any exceptions I'd love to hear about them. The Harrison might be a possibility.

Also, try the private dining search function on Opentable.
