brining turkey in a plastic bucket

I'm on the second floor, not that it would stop those critters but all is right with the world. Brought it in today and now its in the kitchen, in the 80's today (Los Angeles)so I thought it best to bring it. There are raccoons in the area because I live close to the hills but I personally haven't had a problem with them.

Many people have mentioned this, where do you fine a ziploc bag large enough for a turkey? Are they industrial size, I would love to find some.
Thanks!

Ok, did I listen to the is advice first off...NOOOOOOO...did I avert catastrophe....barely but your words came back before I actually started walking with my turkey and 'tub o' brine' that I could hardly lift. Thank you very much for the warning!

Does anyone actually put stuffing inside the turkey anymore?

I always stuff my birds, never had a problem. The only thing I do is take the stuffing out right away so my husband doesn't throw a fit and accuse me of trying to kill everyone.

Cranberry Relish Emergency

Polly I LOVE the stuff in the can LOL! The ridges make for easy cutting! I think I'll make this relish though. i ususally buy relish from Trader Joes out here in CA but sometimes its just too sweet and too tart, I think its from sitting around...its still good though but I think I'll try fresh since we are talking about something that take just a minute or two :)

It's going right outside on the patio, no fuss-no muss. With a few bags of ice around and on top, I (now) have no worries :)

I have never done this before but I am tonight. My brinning turkey is going right outside on the patio in my cooler with ice around. Not worried a bit. I am not sure where all this chicken fear has come from. Wash everything down and fully cook your poultry and you'll be fine.

I do it all the time for years...since that '3' defrost in the fridge has never worked for me :).

A cooler!!! Thanks for this idea, I was wondering how the heck was I going to 1. find a pail big enough to hold my turkey, 2. get it in to my fridge. Plastic bag, cooler and Ice. That is all I need! Thanks!

Cooking two chickens in the same roaster

Thanks! The plan, ORIGINAL plan was buy game hens (real ones :) from my local butcher. $8 a pieces...which isn't bad but $80 on chicken is not easy... so then I was trying to decide how many I need, who would eat a whole one, who wouldn't...then I moved to full chickens...UGH! I'm going to have to decide soon. If I do the hens I need to order them at the end of this week (because I need 10) I do want to serve my friends the best. This is a birthday dinner that I'm am throwing for myself. My gift for me is cooking my best for them.

Hmmm...your game hen recipe... might try that one for my hubby and I for Sunday dinner...just to try them out...sounds very moist and tender...

Cooking two chickens in the same roaster

I had thought about what else I could do but I wanted to roast whole chickens for this dinner...not sure if it practical though...a roulade would be quite nice...hmmm...

Cooking two chickens in the same roaster

LOL! Same rooster!!! That's funny! I have a roster oven thingy that will hold two chickens easily and I have a roaster that you put in the oven with a lid that will hold two chickens snuggled...but since I'm gonna cut them up I don't have to worry too much about the presentation like I would if I want to bring a whole chicken to the table...

Thanks pgrmrdan and hill food! Still trying to make up my mind about the game hens but I think I'll just go with the big guys!

What Is America's Worst Restaurant Chain?

I work on a college campus and it is the only Panda Express where I will eat. The lines are always long and none of the food sits under those horrible light for more than a few minutes. When I have gone to other Pandas and seen the food, all I can say is uhhh...no. And considering Panda is not a cheap place to eat...they can do better.

What Is America's Worst Restaurant Chain?

Isn't Arby's the worst! I think the last time I ate at Arby's I was about 20 years old and that was A LONG TIME AGO. It was bad then, it seems just as bad now.

Cooking two chickens in the same roaster

Hi Everyone,
Help! Ok, I'm having a dinner party for 10 and I want to make the Ad Hoc recipe for roast chicken and root veggies. Can I cook two chickens in the same roaster or do I have to do one chicken at a time. I'm thinking the heat will be thrown off but maybe not...also I can't really decide if I'm going to do chickens or if I should do game hens...what do you guys think...any and all suggestions welcomed (one these days I'm gonna move and the requirement is gonna be double ovens)
Thanks!

Help! Looking for a roof top bar Miami South Beach !?!

Hello Peoples!

Help! My boss told me to find the best roof-top bar in South Beach...ok...I have noooo idea where to start so I thought I would ask you. Loud, fun, upscale...over the top is good. He is staying at the Loews, so somewhere around there would be good but they can always take a cab...

Thanks!
