Eating in Polanco, staying at the W
Thanks for the recommendations. I wish I had time to read the last posts, they were really insightful. Since I am going back in november I will have to try all these places you recommend. I ended up hitting up some of the usuals:
El Bajio - had decent ceviche and sopa de pollo con cilantro
D.O. en Masaryk - I know, I know, what am I doing in Mexico getting spanish food, but I really enjoyed it. The Pintxos were awesome and I can´t say no to morcilla de burgos and jamon de bellota
Lago de los Cisnes - usual taco selection, but i promise to go to el farolito next time as my driver also recommends it
Several meals at the W - not bad food for hotel, also not cheap.
Help me Select the Pizza for a Surprise Party (NW DC)
Where did you come up with $100 figure for 5 pizzas from Vace? 5 large pizzas from vace with one topping should cost you $50ish, not $100. I would go with Vace, no question
Eating in Polanco, staying at the W
The reason I´m not specific is b/c any price range will do and I´m a really good eater (I will eat anything) not in terms of quantity but range. I am a bit tired of going to the same places.
I usually end up at el califa in condesa for tacos
D.O. on Mazarik for spanish
lago de los cisnes or charco de las ranas
So I´m looking to expand and if it´s walking distance or close to the hotel, even better
Best Sliders in DC?
I had some really good sliders at West End Bistro about a month ago.
La Caraquena -- Falls Church
finally!! venezuelan arepas. But one question... are they a la plancha or fried?
Favorite Seafood in DC
I´m also partial to pesce. But isn´t D'aqua in penn quarter? A few trusted friends ventured there and really enjoyed the fresh seafood.
Fried Green Tomatoes
I had the green tomatoes with shrimp at circle bistro and they were awesome. I think i also may have had the best soft shell of this season here too.
Madrid Birthday
I like Arce and Viridiana, but it really depends on how much you are willing to drop for this special occasion
from the cheap eats dept: Baltimore institutions
What about Pete´s grille on York Rd
Staying in Logan dist. (helixhotel)1night,where to eat??
take a short walk up 14th street to cork, or a little further to bar pilar. It´s right in your price range and the food is really good.
Looking for good restaurant around DC Improv
I hear really good things about Teatro Goldoni with the new chef. Haven´t been but I really trust my sources
Central: What's the big deal?
Not saying I agree nor disagree, more curious than anything. I was wondering what comparable restaurants are better for $60 to you?
Smoked paprika
Are you looking for any smoked paprika or the spanish kind? If you want the spanish one, you will have to go to AandH store, which specializes in spanish/portuguese imports. I´ve never used the other kind but it seems fairly easy to find in regular supermarkets
Birthday Dinner for 8-10 Twenty-Somethings in G-Town?
For big groups I alwayas think of Neyla
Where would you take Anthony Bourdain?
The thought of a Anthony Bourdain and Michael Landrum meeting brings shivers down my spine, but it would be very interesting if he went to Rays
New to Cleveland Park

I´ll be there next wednesday to friday and I´m staying around las mercedes area. Can anyone recommend anything to eat around there?
Where to eat in Bogota
Hi all,
I will be in bogota next week for work and I´m looking for a few options to eat. I will be going with some in laws to Andres carne de res, but I was looking for options of all ranges: from fine dining to empanadas. Thanks in advance for your help
For butterfly
just had lunch at Inti 2 days ago, it was good and also enjoyed my navajas and berberechos at cerveceria cruz (por tu barrio) as is traditional everytime i´m in madrid.

Taberna ramon in la Rambla across teh street from the plaza de toros is a small place that serves up great local food.
zOMG Does nobody go to Tenerife???
I´m from tenerife, there are plenty of places to go:
Meson del Drago (used to have a michelin star) serves up great canary islands food, excellent rabbit in salmorejo.
El jable in san isidro is one of my favorites
La playita in santa cruz for extremely fresh fish on the road to las teresitas beach just by Maria Jimenez
Meson Castellano for meat in Santa Cruz center
La Frasca in the center of the city as well serves up good mainland food.
go to www.eldia.es in teh gastronomy section. Its the local newspaper and they are constantly finding new places that I´ve never been to
Also you cant miss la pimienta or el salon in la matanza for the best fish in the island, el bodegon campestre for roasted meats
Razor clams? any DC restaurants serve them?
I know many restaurants have issues with carrying them b/c unfortunately many people send them back b/c it´s hard to get all the sand out of them. I haven´t seen any in restaurants in a whilte, but going to spain next week, where they are plentiful
Oyamel recently
I think you can go either way at oyamel. You can get guacamole, caesar salad, shrimp and chicken tacos or you can get huachinango, tongue tacos, crunchy grasshopper tacos, etc. But the menu is not similar to Cafe Atlantico although two dishes are the same: Guacamole and snapper veracruz style
Dinner near Marriott Wardman on Woodley - Tonight
Chef Wabeck is the man! The food at new heights is always solid and often great. Try the bacon naan and the gin bar in the first floor

I think you´re confusing mexican down home food with authentic mexican food one finds in a mexican restaurant and although i can agree with you on some of your examples, you should probably choose your examples just a little better b/c chiles en nogada are extremely traditional in the DF and just about every place serves them in the city and indeed they are stuffed with walnuts and sprinkled with pomegranates. So although i see your point you could have used a better example then one of mexico´s city´s most popular celebratory dishes. Also the pumpkins are huge in mexican food as well as mushrooms, remember the aztecs used certain shrooms to speak to the gods
