Need a great recommendation for dinner for 1.

Although I dont frequent WG, I was taken to lunch in SM last week and had the WILD TAHITIAN ALBACORE NICOISE SALAD with anchovy and haricot vert. It was really good. That was all I had.

How about the counter at Salt's Cure for the pork chop?

What are some over-rated L.A. restaurants to you? Why, specifically? Only one each!

800 Degrees. Two times I went toppings were like soup, fell right off the pie with the cheese. Have heard its better if you ask for it to be cooked a bit longer so one more chance is in order.

Tavern has a great one.

LaScala. Their over-hyped chopped salad is iceberg lettuce, processed turkey or salami and shredded cheese with garbanzos and shitty vinaigrette dressing for $15. Sucks.

Do the bar at Spago or on the early side the bar at Dan Tanas.

LA BARBERA'S - ONE NIGHT RE-OPENING

Not yet as not sure it will happen. Had a couple of false starts already this year. Was just asked to see what the response looks like as a favor.

LA BARBERA'S - ONE NIGHT RE-OPENING

We shall see. Gauging interest first. Open to venue suggestions. Thanks.

LA BARBERA'S - ONE NIGHT RE-OPENING

It is exactly the same. At least the sausage and cheese are.

LA BARBERA'S - ONE NIGHT RE-OPENING

Trying to gauge the interest in a one night re-opening of La Barber's one night re-opening. Could be a precursor to a full blown venture. Last post on this topic did not generate enough buzz to justify the effort.

Chi SPACCA - Tomahawk Pork Chop

Somehow I missed it. My read is that most posters who have been love Chi Spacca. How could you not? Now some say its pricy, which it is. However, if you do a group of 6 its no more than most other top places.

Can anyone recommend a good Dim Sum option during night time hours anywhere in LA?

Bao is pretty good and a full bar. Even though it is more expensive than most bao, it is still not expensive and convenient if you are on the west side.

Chi SPACCA - Tomahawk Pork Chop

I think it is pretty appreciated and fantastic. Probably my current favorite place to eat in LA.

L.A. Dish of the Month, February 2015 -- BURGERS

Did not have it but the Kobe Burger with gruyre cheese, herbed mayo, grilled red onion, topped with topped with braised short ribs at Vibrato looked awesome. $21

TERRINE on Beverly

No. I wanted to, but I was a guest and my host did not want it. Maybe on that ground it warrants another chance. Would be interested in others who have gone.

TERRINE on Beverly

Finally made it. The place has been beautifully re-done. Much nicer that either Pane Vino or Sirena before it. Service was ok. Food was just ok. Bistro type food with a California touch. Not as much butter (which is ok with me as I dont care for creamy food).

We had:

brussel sprouts - this was good

pigs ear - also good

octopus and burrata - this was bland and the burrata was almost soup like it was so mushy.

city's best fish and chips - not close. The fish was bland and tasteless. The fries were pretty good.

bavette steak - just ok. not a ton of flavor which was a common theme.

Asked for a suggestion for a chardonney. The taste the waiter poured was absolutely rancid. Tried another which was ok.

We were there early. When we left at about 7:30, the place was about 2/3 full.

Conclusion: Great looking space and ok food. Would not rush back. Give it 50/50 on survival.

Afternoon dining in Beverly Hills

Of those Il Pastaio is the best. Bar Bashon is nice because you can sit outside by the park at the Montage. Momed and Le Pain are really quick serve type places, albeit above average quick serve.

What am I missing?

Chi Spacca for sure.

Valentines Day steak in Woodland Hills

I have not been to any of these in Woodland Hills but based on experience at other branches would rate:

1. Arnie Mortons, 2. Ruth's Chris and 10. Flemmings

Where to go? - Birthday dinner- mid 20s, not too expensive

The one time I was there did not find it fun, festive or particularly good.

LA Hounds: Dallas based Hounder here will be in your city this week thru Monday.

Will you be alone or dining with others. If you have a sidekick or two, fur sure try Chi Spacca. Its next door to Osteria Mozza and part of the Mozza group. Very meat centric.

Sotto is also very good for Italian. Good pastas, pizza and a great pork chop.

The Galley in Santa Monica would be perfect. Its a lot of fun, kind of crusty in a good way and you might even get your lobster. Their steamed clams are super good and its a fun bar scene. Fun area too.

If not the Galley, Plan Check is fun with a great vibe and bar. There are three locations, Sawtelle, Fairfax and downtown.

Help Please! A week in LA to dine!

Chi Spacca is fantastic. The pork chop is incred. Ask to sit with Veronica as your server. She is a great guide.
