WHO HAS THE BEST PIZZA IN L.A. AND WHY?

While you and I completely disagree on Barones, could not agree more on 800 degrees. To me it is a complete miss and the 3 times (note lapzz) I have been there, the top slid off the 800 degree pie each time. Better than Popa John or Dominos but thats about it for me.

Just had the fried chicken at Plan Check and it was really good. Place is casual and fun too. Great bar.

PLAN CHECK SAWTELLE - GREAT CHOICE FOR 2 COUPLES WITH KIDS

Went to Plan Check with another couple and our collective 3 grade school kids. Sat on the patio with two tables next to each other one for the kids and the other for the adults. All were able to have a great time and very good meal and drinks. The fried chicken is some of the best in town and the fries were very good. Hot, think and well done. Seared tuna was surprisingly good. The bar has somewhat obscure high end choices at good prices. There is now a kids menu which is reasonable and offers a number of choices like burgers, PBJ etc. Server brought complementary desert which was very nice. Great evening for all.

SPAGO BEVERLY HILLS - BAR MENU

Kind of hate to give up the secret, but there are two tables that are considered part of the bar, but are actually adjacent to the patio at Spago Beverly Hills. Advantage is that they are two of the nicer tables in the house and you can order off both the regular and the bar menu. The bar menu includes pizzas, really good short rib bao and several other smaller plate choices. Really reasonable prices for Spago (except for the spicy tuna tartare cones which are two tiny cones for $16 - a rip off). Drinks are small and over priced too, but the bar menu pricing makes up for it. Fun way to do Spago without breaking the bank.

Nice place that's easy access from Encino?

Vibrato Jazz and Grill is pretty cool. Its at the top of Beverly Glen and Mulholland. Owned by Herb Alpert and the Arroyo Chop House folks is a nice evening. Great bar too.

Sunday Night - Beverly Hills / Santa Monica / West LA / Culver City - TAKE OUT

Both good choices. Both are good to dine in as well as take out. Da Pasquale has good pastas. Also good roast chicken and as a special lamb shank. Both have full bars as well.

WHO HAS THE BEST PIZZA IN L.A. AND WHY?

I think Tony was referring to Petrillo's in San Gabriel, not Barone's.

WHO HAS THE BEST PIZZA IN L.A. AND WHY?

If you cant have La Barbaras, Baronies is my fall back. If you go for alternative, then smoked salmon pizza or duck saussage at Spago is great as it the pork cheek at Sotto. Love clam pizza, but cant find one any more.

romantic sushi restaurant in bev hills?!

Sushi Sushi is outstanding though not particularly romantic. Kiyokawa serves fake crab rolls and is below average. I have heard good things recently about Yojisan. Have not dined there but the room is pretty. Cant go wrong with Nobu or Matsuhisa.

Sherman Oaks dining 'renaissance' - will it draw Angelenos?

Mistral on Ventura near Woodman is really good. Was there for the first time yesterday for lunch.
