LA next week with kids, where to eat good?

I believe lakgrs is referring to my comment about how Neptune's Net only has outhouses instead of a traditional bathroom with running water.

LA next week with kids, where to eat good?

Be aware that the restrooms at Neptune's Net do not have running water. They are outhouses and they are disgusting.

Another great dinner at Quinoa

Tried this place for the first time last week. Had the risotto with a port reduction. Rich and delicious! Ordered a side of cavolo nero. What set this side apart from places like A.O.C. was the hit of vinegar. The interplay of earthiness and brightness was fun. Can't wait to try for lunch.

Extremely classy recovery by Chef Ludo and Royal/T on an "off" night - Bravo! [REVIEW]

it was a disaster last night. by 8:45 they had run out of half the dishes on the prix fixe menu and were substituting whatever they had left in the kitchen. the wait time in between each course was about 20 minutes! the food was cold on arrival. they tried their best but should have just closed for the night and rescheduled the reservations. I felt bad for Krissy. She looked so overwhelmed.

Any Ludobites Reports?

Tavern (Suzanne Goin in Brentwood)

Thanks for the details. I will report back next weekend.

Tavern (Suzanne Goin in Brentwood)

That's too bad. Craft is my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. I have reservations for next Friday...Ric, can you give more detail on how you can tell its not Accarrino anymore? Glad to see they got rid of that sommelier. Didn't like the guy. Also is Detra Payne still the hostess or did they cut her too?

Minestraio?

I went last night. I would go back. Prices reasonable. Food matches price. Not mind-blowing but for the price it's alright. Cozy atmosphere and it seems they are working on fixing the poor service. Gino was greeting people at tables. Nice people. I had the lentil soup and whole wheat spaghetti because I'm healthy like that. The spaghetti had very sweet fresh tomatoes. Not canned. Both my date and I were stuffed by the end of the meal. They toast their bread on the grill. That was good too.

Lunch in Downey

I asked a similar question in 2006. Here were the responses:

Potato Chips on Beverly

No deli yet. Just a very limited selection of Spanish wines and beers. They are taking a verrrry long time to finish the transformation.

The Golden State on Fairfax

VIRGIL VILLAGE!

Cassell's Burgers on 8th and Western

In a non-residential part of town??? There a hundreds of apartment and condo buildings in the immediate vicinity. It's in one of the most densely populated part of the city. I was there a couple years ago. I enjoyed it but never had the burger when the original owners were still around. It is korean-owned now.

Help me find PEA TENDRILS!

I have an insatiable appetite for this soup! It is insanely good. I have made it twice already in one week. I haven't tried it chilled yet as the recipe calls for but I'm sure I will once the weather becomes warmer. It is delicious warm. No need for the optional sugar either. English peas are very sweet right now and the spicy to sweet ratio is spot on without the added sugar. Enjoy!

Help me find PEA TENDRILS!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to try these tomorrow.

Help me find PEA TENDRILS!

Maybe I made the mistake of going to all Korean markets. I'll try some Chinese supermarkets. Suggestions?
