Where is the best fishmonger in San Diego?

Uh no.

Roundup Ready System

Overview
Developed in 1974, Roundup® brand agricultural herbicides continue to be a perfect fit with the vision of sustainable agriculture and environmental protection. In fact, their use on Roundup Ready® crops has allowed farmers to conserve fuel and decrease the overall amount of agricultural herbicides used.

Roundup Ready® Soybeans were commercialized in 1996, followed by alfalfa, corn, cotton, spring canola, sugarbeets and winter canola, which contain in-plant tolerance to Roundup® agricultural herbicides. This means you can spray Roundup agricultural herbicides in-crop from emergence through flowering for unsurpassed weed control, proven crop safety and maximum yield potential

Help! Last minute private event--10 people, Wed 6/4

Whisk n' Ladle has a nice private room, it's in the village, has a good beer and wine selection (better cocktails) and also veg options.

Much like the parking snafu, ordering a caprese in Feburary is not a good idea.

Jazz Fest music lineup coming 1/14/14.. food lineup too?

You can always look at the previous year food list, doesn't change much year to year. It can take a while to get a cab after the fest, so plan accordingly. The city bus is really the best way out of there. If you get to the Fest ealry (11 am) the lines for food are very small especially on thurs/fri of 2nd weekend. Looking forward to the lineup tomorrow.

SD Dish of the Month - October 2013 [Curry]

I have not tried the goat curry at Punjabi Tandor, but have tried many other dishes there and would say they are comparable in quality for a n=1 comparison. I will be headed back to Eight Elements and up sample population. I will also try the goat curry at PT.

SD Dish of the Month - October 2013 [Curry]

We tried the Goat Curry at Eight Elements in Mira Mesa and it was quite good. Newish place in the same strip mall as Pho Cow Cali, there is also a newer Indian grocery in the same center. Curry was well balanced, goat was tender and we asked for hot and it had some heat. Also tried the Biryani, a Jerra Palak Paneer and some Naan. All in all pretty good. The Biranyi was not as good as the early Copper Chiminy truck version but was pretty solid.

Do you have a favorite Farmer's Market?

Vista was incredible on Saturday (7/13). Sweetest grapes I've ever tasted, great stone fruits, awesome tomatoes, and fresh morels. Worth the trip north and I got all my knives sharpened while I shopped.

Green Acre

Thanks to Cathy I found a new lunch spot really close to the office. Green Acre has been open since September and I didn't even know it existed. The location is hidden behind an office building. The space is beautiful and the staff was friendly. I had the white pie from the brick oven (cauliflower, granna padano, leeks and garlic), flat bready but really tasty (1/2 portion photo below came with a side salad). I also had the Green Goddess salad (capers, herbs, roasted tomato, really fresh greens and goat cheese) which was really good. Only complaint was the greens were huge and needed to be cut with a knife (my issuse). I really loved the capers and the pretzel roll that came with the salad (not as good as Amaya's, but close). A lot of good food for just over $11.

Carne Asada Burrito - San Diego Dish of the Month - March 2013 Edition

Had the CAB at Caliente's Mexican Food in Sorrento Valley. Quality non-gray meat with decent flavor, probably flap meat. Condements were in right proportions (pico and guac) and both the red (arbol) and green salsa were tasty but mild. My only complaint was the tortilla could have spent more time on the flat top. Horrible picture below.

Where to get Choripan?!(Argentinian Sausage)

Chori = Chorizo / Pan = Bread. Northgate Market has Argentinian Chorizo. I'm not certain about the chimichurri, but it's easy to make. The book Seven Fires: Grilling the Argentine Way is a good resource. Best of luck.

HATCH CHILE ROASTING THIS WEEKEND 8/25-26 etc.

Went to Northgate in Escondido on Saturday, $29.99 for 30 Lbs. Perfect roast with some nice heat. They were passing out little chili tacos, rosted chili with queso fresco, so good.

ar valentien or delicias??

Yes, I could have eaten a bowl of those grits. I've had the sweetbread/grits combo elsewhere and really loved it. The wife and I shared just about everything. I wanted to try the charcuterie, but we had over ordered already, glad to hear you enjoyed it.

ar valentien or delicias??

Yes, we were there last week. Finished the meal with the Roaring 40s Blue and it was cold and compressed like it was vacuum sealed, placed in the fridge and removed for service. BBQ sauce on the sweetbreads killed the dish for me, too sweet/too much and washed out the flavor of the sweetbreads. The unsauced corn grits were really good and had enough sweetness on their own. Everthing else was just OK for me. I probably went in with expectations set too high, my wife was happy with her meal. Happy wife, happy life.

ar valentien or delicias??

Agreed, although the tomato salad and bison tartare were really nice. BBQ sweetbreads, rib-eye cap, flatbread and the ice cold cheese course were not. Wine markups are high and the Ipad wine list was poorly designed.

Dining at Burlap!

Nice write up Steve. I've had a similar experiences with the service, it was excellent. Had some minor issues with the food, over use of the low quality steamed buns (bao) served both with the bone marrow and the rotisserie duck, skin not crispy on duck as promised, and the liquid viagra was killed with too much ponzu. We are in the area quite often and will be back, hamichi was good as was my wife's halibut and the brussel sprouts were quite good, ala David Chang fish sauce vinaigrette. Also glad to see Rimel's is open with lines out the door, the center would be a great place for another Home Grown meats.
