Best Cocktail Hour Wedding Reception bar/restaurant?
Same thing happened to my wife and I. Our elopment was well attended. We did the whole reception/wedding at the Maison Dupuy, it was afordable and the food was good. The wedding coordinator at the hotel was great. Give them a shot.
Venison Leg
Last time I was in Homegrown meats (Nov) they had a coupe Venison sides hanging in the aging room. I'd give them a call.
Where to buy fresh pork ham in san diego
Contact Dave @ http://www.da-le-ranch.com/ you can order and pick up at the Little Italy Farmers Market. I've been pleased with their products.
Where do you source your Thanksgiving turkey in San Diego and what is your favorite cooking method for it?
Homegrown Meats in LJ, still time to order. I do a brined bird on a rotisserie over hardwood.
Dining at Burlap!
Nice write up Steve. I've had a similar experiences with the service, it was excellent. Had some minor issues with the food, over use of the low quality steamed buns (bao) served both with the bone marrow and the rotisserie duck, skin not crispy on duck as promised, and the liquid viagra was killed with too much ponzu. We are in the area quite often and will be back, hamichi was good as was my wife's halibut and the brussel sprouts were quite good, ala David Chang fish sauce vinaigrette. Also glad to see Rimel's is open with lines out the door, the center would be a great place for another Home Grown meats.
First Five Days in New Orleans
Fellow tourist here. That's a solid list, if it were me I would do Galatoire's for lunch on Friday.

Deli Discussion
Langner's is a bit closer and beats Brent's and Cantor's for pastrami. I know that's not much help, but all the deli (DZ, Elija's, Milton's...) in SD are about the the same. If you can find one that pleases you stick with it.
Foie Gras and Black Truffles
$40 I think, might have been $60, little smaller than a golf ball.
Foie Gras and Black Truffles
Add Tapenade and Wine Sellar and Brasserie. I've seen whole lobes in the meat case at Bristol Farms during the hoildays.
I scored a black summer truffle from the mushroom vendor at the Vista Farmers Market, it was just good not great.

Your best favorite eatery for Friday nights after work?
Green Flash brewery has guest food trucks Thursday - Saturday, good option for a Friday night depending on who's there. Nice change of pace from Callahan's. Also tried Bruski's recently on Friday and it was just OK, Kappa sushi was better.

Returning to NOLA after falling in love with it 2 years ago. 7 days, No budget, Looking for just the BEST!
It's been a while for me but the duck five ways at Stella was excellent.
San Diego New Places Opening
Heard yesterday Mozza opening in Newport Beach. Interesting.
Any Guanciale in North County?
Night Salumi's (RIP) new entity, spin off, whatever "Meat Men" might carry it, they seem to be just getting off the ground and have only had two types of salami lately, but i would not hurt to ask. They do the farmers markets, for sure they are at Poway on Saturdays.

San Diego New Places Opening
Burlap is now open (soft) dinner @ six. Lots of other things going on in the Del Mar Highlands Center, also open is a new location of the Counter and Cineopolis luxury theatre.
North Co Farmer's Markets
Only two types of salami, a "hot" and "regular". I got the hot and its pretty good flavor wise, with nice whole peppercorns and a mild red chili bite. Moisture content was a little high for my liking but overall it's a well made product. I would say similar to Knight when they started, but I've only had one. More research is needed. They were also selling fresh grilled sausages in bread as Knight used to that smelled and looked great. Pork sourcing is diffrent from Knight from what I could gather, using only Berkshire.
North Co Farmer's Markets
The "Meatmen" finally had cured meat products at the Poway market today.
Restaurant: Impossible *is* coming to San Diego
"Soyrizo - that sounds totally unappetizing"
I have had versions that are really good, and I love the swine version.
Never been to this resto, and thought San Carlos was out the 78 past San Marcos. Learn something new everyday.
Where to buy Za'artar?
Good to hear, has anyone been yet? Also interested in the Thyme of Essence brand, I will look for it.
Where to buy Za'artar?
I really like the William Sonoma brand, nice fresh flavor compared to some of the dusty bagged brands, it will cost you but it is by far my choice. You can get this at UTC. There is a NPP in Poway that you can get the Sadaf brands, you can also check the middle eastern market behind Beach Grass cafe just up the road from NPP, name escapes me. If you have not been to Balboa international market it is worth the trip, they have recently remodeled and have a new bread oven. Wonder if the restaurant next door is ever going to open?

Birthday Dinner (Friday Night, Great Wine List)
Neither Whisk & Ladle or Wine Vault have what I would call a great wine list. Interesting yes and the food is good but not an extensive wine list. Wine Sellar and Brassirie and Addison come to mind when I think "great" wine list.
