Tried-and-true brunch in U of T area?
Are you sure Caffino is at Bloor and St. George? google keeps telling me King West, which is out of the ideal area for me.
Tried-and-true brunch in U of T area?
Hi everyone,
I'm meeting an old and very dear friend for brunch/early lunch in Toronto on Tuesday (Oct. 28th). She has just started school at U of T so I am trying to thoughtfully find a place near her campus that would be convenient for her to visit. Although I have lived in Toronto for a year now, I go to York and am thus unfamiliar with the U of T area, except for dinner places and bars. Can anyone name a laid-back and vegetarian-friendly br/lunch spot that is "tried and true" (i.e. consistently good) for someone who has high standards but no time to check out the spot ahead of time? And by "U of T area", i mean within reasonable distance from campus, not necessarily ON campus (since i don't even really know where the U of T campus boundaries are). Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!

I often refer to my copy of the Mediterranean Vegan Kitchen for simple, quick, and very filling weekday meals:

I highly recommend it!
Best Moon Cakes in GTA ? It's that time of year again...
Oh and i should report also that if you go right now, you are promised to have VERY fresh cakes because I couldn't believe the rate they were churning them out at: I was only in the bakery for maybe 10 minutes, and a worker came three times with fresh trays to replenish the display cases!

Hey KevinB, just wanted to say thanks for the Kim Moon rec: I'm new to Toronto, but finding this place was like finding PARADISE! We got 4 cakes for just $25.00 even: lotus with three yolk, white lotus with two yolk, red bean with 1 yolk, and green bean with 1 yolk. Absolutely fantastic!
Mirco Brewery Beer w/ pub fare downtown TO?
So many fabulous suggestions! We ended up at Rebel House on Yonge Street, and had an excellent evening. It was Friday night and the place was packed, but we were lucky enough to get the last two-seater upstairs. The cheese pennies were delicious, and my partner really enjoyed his sausage plate; we shared the PEI mussels, which were in a bleu cheese sauce (very good, fresh and the cheese flavour was rich). Round one was a nice but rather forgettable pilsner, but round two was a DELISH wheat beer called Denison's Weissbier; so flavourful, mmm.
We will definitely have to check out many of the other places recommended on this thread; thank you all for the help!

I've recently moved to Toronto (Bloor-Sherbourne area) and my significant other is coming up for his first visit to my new neighbourhood. We're interested in having a nice evening at our favourite type of place: somewhere with plenty of delicious local/micro beers, satisfying pub fare (does not necessarily have to be traditional though), and a friendly atmosphere where we can talk and relax. Being new to the area, I'm finding the search to be a bit overwhelming and thought I would try these boards (new user!) Is there any place that stands out on these three points in the downtown area? The nice thing about living where I do is that it only takes a quick subway ride to get just about anywhere downtown. I really miss my cozy Kingston Brew Co. and would love to hear your recommendations. Thank you in advance!
