NEW CONSOLIDATED Thread: Best Chicken Wings in GTA

Puck N Wings, if you like your wings big, breaded and saucy. Yonge and Finch, Bloor and Spadina. Some other spots too.

Union Social Eatery - Mississauga - any comments?

Oh man, I did a search for union social, but came up with nothing. I just started a thread for it. Solid restaurant.

Good Mississauga Find -- Union Social

Union Social, a restaurant / bistro type place at 401 and Derry recently. It was really good. This is not a Sysco type restaurant. The server told me they all their stuff from scratch and it shows. I had the burger---excellent. My friends had the steak frites, carbonara pasta, roast chicken, and flat breads. Everything looked great. Fries are outstanding.

For dessert, I had a Lindt chocolate creme brulee---one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. Chocolate + creme brulee?! How can you go wrong! I had a caesar salad too. It wasn't mind blowing, but still quite good. They make a very good latte too.

This area is chain city and Union Social is surrounded by all these other chain restaurants in a plaza just east of Mississauga Road. It's easily the best spot within several miles. It's one of best Mississauga restaurant experiences I've had since moving here almost three years ago.

Best Fish and Chips - Mississauga

Cooksville Fish and Chips are excellent. Just east of Hurontario, north side of Dundas. Two halibut with fries and a large slaw for $20.00.

Openings 2012 (Toronto)

Interesting that a low fat yogurt place displaces two coffee mainstays like Tim's and the Second Cup.

Relish - London Ontario (recently on the Food Network)

Good post! Yeah, it was on You Gotta Eat Here (kind of like a Canadian version of DDD). The burgers on the show looked pretty darn good, but your review matches up well with other online reviews---extremely negative. They must put on a different face when the cameras are on because most reviews trashed this place.

I would be curious to try Boomers in Stratford. The poutine looks pretty darn good. The owner seems like quite the character too.

Toronto's most boring resto: your nominations, please

Despite the sameness of the menu, does the food taste good?

South St Burger at Bayview Village

It's just an OK burger at the best of times. I've been to another location at Eg and Laird a couple of times It's decent but it's not great, it certainly wasn't rancid what I ate, but it wasn't anything to write home about either.

You have $10 for a meal, where do you go in Toronto?

How are the wings at the Wally?

House of Chan Affected by Subway Plans

Well, like you said, I hope it's just the building that's disappearing and that they will relocate.

California sandwiches.....$8.25 + a pop will run you around $10.00. Huge sandwich too.

House of Chan Affected by Subway Plans

For those of us considering going over the holidays:

Hours on Christmas Eve is from 4:30pm-11:30pm and on New Year's Eve it's 4:30-12:00am

Lunch in Brampton

Bistro Chezanne! I was there very recently for my anniversary. A very lovely spot. Nice food, nice service, pretty setting. Certainly worth the trip!

Swiss Chalet, Bellamy & Eglinton - Location Closed?

It's now open.

Good bakery in Mississauga

French Corner Patisserie. 1224 Dundas St W, Mississauga! Good stuff, nice prices! Sorry this info comes 2.5 years after you requested it!

2011 Food and Resto CLOSINGS

I had read rave reviews about this place. Any idea why they closed?

$15 burgers? How social is that?

Need help figuring out Hakka Indian Restaurants near YYZ

China Garden on Airport rd is very good.

God I love Highland Farms

HF rocks! See my prior post about it in the chain grocery store thread!

Bannock (An O&B restaurant)

Couldn't O&B do it all? Why the partnership with Compass, who in my opinion is about as creative when it comes to restaurant food supply as Sysco is? Unless Compass is just supplying the napkins and cutlery.

Grocery Chains - Favourites?

Another vote for Highland Farms! After moving to Mississauga two years ago, I immediately started shopping at the T & T at Mavis and Central Parkway, but the sheer craziness of the place and the slow but steady increases in prices (is that Loblaws related?) had me considering some alternatives. I've tried Oceans on Hurontario but the surilness of the staff is a real turn off, although their prices are very good.

This led me to Highland Farms. Compared to Oceans and T & T, HF is a sea of serenity compared to those two spots. A huge store with wide aisles, never terribly busy even during peak hours, a very good bakery, a great meat counter and a friendly staff. Prices for produce might be a smidge higher than Oceans or T & T, but they're much cheaper for just about everything than Metro or Loblaws (not much surprise there eh).

Big thumbs up for Highland Farms.

Anyone remember the Prime Rib Sandwich place at Agincourt Mall that closed?

Called the number. They're still open.

President's Choice Black Label

They could have been a little more creative with the name---isn't "Black Label" already taken?

Boar N Wing, Etobicoke

B&B is very solid all around. They recently kind of went to slightly more upscale menu with some good stuff on it---like their schnitzel, but for me the wings are still the main draw. Half price wings after 4 on Monday and Tuesday.

Just got 100 dollar Moxie's Restaurant gift card. Is this a good or a bad thing...?

Hi Cupidom

Yup, I have the two Toronto shows and the Hamilton show covered---would love to see more---especially Alpine, but I'd be risking divorce! :-)

Hope you get there!

Boar N Wing, Etobicoke

Thanks for the review. I pass this place a lot and was thinking of trying it. I'll probably skip it based on your thorough review. I can't see this place lasting past the new year. Just another place that thinks it can do well based merely on fact they use the word "wing' in their name.

When it comes to wings in Etobicoke, I'll gladly drive a bit further west to Beaver & Bulldog on Dundas. Some of the best wings going...

Veal burger with pancetta and white cheddar---one of the best burgers I've had in a long time.

Visiting Toronto with my 11-year-old daughter - where should we eat?

Just be aware that special requests will not be tolerated at Terroni. Seriously, you don't want your lunch soured because of one their "rules".

Nathans Hot Dogs

"They have 3 locations in Ontario. We are working on selling Nathan's at other Retail locations." Nathan's words direct from Facebook. The other two locations are where? I'll ask them, but I thought I'd check here too.

They keep going on and on about not having a distributor (besides this small shop in Guelph). I know nothing about the grocery biz, but if I have a product that I know will be a hot seller, (and surely the grocery management folk handlng the buying would be aware that Nathan's products are a sure thing) how hard is it to get you product on store shelves? Are they arguing over % points?

Nathans Hot Dogs

Nathan's just posted on Facebook that their dogs are now available in Ontario at the below location:
