Seafood tower for a special occasion

The tower at The Publican is pretty amazing. The beer list is one of the best ive seen.

Waiting for Longman and Eagle?

Waits can certainly vary and be a detriment. The bar, if you are open to it is first come first served. I often have great success using this strategy there both at dinner and during brunch.

Perhaps check out Publican Quality Meats?

French Laundry corkage fee - $150 Wow! [Yountville, Napa Valley]

It's worth noting that the corkage only applies to bottle NOT on their list. I imagine that if I have a wine rare enough, and expensive enough, to not be on that list, I am the type of person that doesnt scoff at $150 for corkage.

Dive bars, holes in the wall, quirky places full of character in Chicago

I happen to like the lodge, richards, and really enjoy Rossis. But they are DIVE bars.

I am a Doug's loyalist FYI. The line can be managed if you time your visit to about 11:30am. or 3.

You might also consider staying at Longman and Eagle.

Close to the blue line that could get you to a few places to hit up.

How to score a reservation at Grace, Schwa or Goosefoot?

Goosefoot at 9 is no issue at all. It's not that long of a meal. It's also a crazy good value, especially considering the BYOB factor.

Schwa is just calling a million times and hoping for the best.
I loved my meal at Schwa (it has been a year though)

I cant speak to Grace

Craft cocktails in a cozy environment?

The Office is amazing, but not the easiest to get into, and pricey.

I would also suggest the upstairs at The Barrel House Flat, the downstairs can be a bit intense, but the upstairs is very cozy.

The Whistler might be too hipster, but early in the evening it is pretty amazing, quiet, and you can certainly go off menu.

Chicago dessert

Any ideas on area restrictions? Do you have a need for a reservation?

Hot Chocolate comes to mind right away, but they dont offer reservations for just dessert. Wednesday shouldnt be too bad though, get the kids to get you a table!

One dinner and one lunch?

I cant speak to L20, but both Acadia and Blackbird would fit the "romantic" slightly dressed up vibe. Neither of the places scream romance, they scream "modern" but both have great food and service. As for lunch, The Gage is pretty close

Wine Bars in Chicago.. and CASUAL Tasting menu, if that's possible.

aknabe, Are you staying downtown? There are a few great wine bar spots around, but my faves are in the north a bit.

Thoughts on Sixteen and other trip questions

I pimp Acadia a lot, and not because it is in my hood. You have likely only been hearing things recently because it has only been open for a hot min. The food and service are wonderful.

Looking for a restaurant to take my parents for their 30th wedding anniversary.

They arnt huge food lovers but Dad loves wild game. Though I might try to find some of that for him.

I am looking for appropriately fancy (its their 30th) but not Alinea/tru/ etc

Burbs are just as good as city for us.

Thanks so much....
