Broadway Bites (Food Vendor Market) - 33rd and Broadway - 10/28 to 11/24

i agree, it seems difficult to have a satisfying, filling meal for under $10. but that just may be how these things run, i feel the same way about smorgasburg.

Upscale restaurants with great bread

wanted to follow up on this. we both liked the bread basket and what we ordered: polenta, spagetti for me and honestly i can't remember what he ordered. the food was very good, no complaints although i think everything could have been a few dollars less. at a restaurant of this caliber, when the bread basket is finished i am used to someone asking if we'd like a refill. that didn't happen here.. i asked twice for more bread and didn't get a refill. i thought it was a bit odd.

Milos-who is drinking the kool-aid?

you know, i didn't ask but i assume it was from the mediterranean. i wouldn't be complaining if it was fantastic at $150, but it was really subpar!

Milos-who is drinking the kool-aid?

i'm unclear if it was 1 very large lobster (as was presented on the plate) or comprised of several smaller ones. however i was told by someone who is much more knowledgable about cooking that it's very difficult for lobster to be tender by grilling it. anyhow, i would not recommend this dish.

i've never been before and don't think i'd go back...

Milos-who is drinking the kool-aid?

$150 just for the lobster salad. It's listed at $48/lb.

Milos-who is drinking the kool-aid?

I was very disappointed by a recent dinner at Milos. I knew going in it was very expensive. The appetizers we ordered were very good-spreads, fava puree and octopus - but I don't know how they can justify charging $25 for dips. Is it 4x better than the tzatziki anywhere else? No.

So the fish is flown in daily from Greece - well that doesn't do anything if it's overcooked! The flavor of the black sea bass was good, but it was a bit dry. What a shame! And the lobster salad.. this one makes me slightly angry. For $150 total, there was a surprisingly small amount of meat - and the meat itself was rubbery and chewy. Just not good at all! For that amount of money, I want it to be the best lobster I've ever had, and it definitely wasn't.

Harrison or barbounia for 60th bday?

well, bday is next week so marea and picholine are booked - I reserved a table at Tocqueville in the meantime.

Harrison or barbounia for 60th bday?

If both of these options are just average, I'm definitely open to other suggestions! Perhaps something in this vein, organic is a plus and she's a pescatarian. I was looking for a restaurant we haven't been to - some higher end places we've been to and she's liked are Daniel, Bouley, Per Se, Jean Georges, A Voce, Babbo, Del Posto, etcetc.

Harrison or barbounia for 60th bday?

I've looked at both menus and know my mom would like both. I know the cuisines are different, but which restaurant has a nicer atmosphere and service fitting a big bday?

Thanks!

Upscale restaurants with great bread

Sounds like they have a good variety but I would like to confirm they also have solid 'Regular' bread in their basket?

Upscale restaurants with great bread

I'm starting to think of a place to take my boyfriend for his birthday. He loves bread and while I've been to many of the top restaurants in the city, I'm blanking on where I've had fantastic bread besides Bouley. The last place I went to where I was impressed by the bread was Craft. Suggestions? Open to area.

best new-ish seafood?

aside from le bernardin (not so new), what are some great new overall seafood restaurants (ie, not specializing in mussels or lobster rolls)? location doesn't matter...
