Evendite

Had planned to go for lunch at Evendite next weekend while visiting with the family and my 1 yrs old daughter but thinking I should maybe change for a more child friendly restaurant.

Any suggestion ? We would love to find a good spot for lunch where we can sample Maine's oysters.

Any good spots for happy hour for oysters?

Thanks.

Need help deciding date night restaurant - Visiting from MTL

I might ship the tour and just drop by to sample some beers. I will also consider Bissell if I make it on time before it closes.

Thanks!

I’m thinking on adding a Brewery tour since I got the OK from the wife 

We are staying north of Portland and noticed that Allagash is very close by along many others. Bobbert, I read your comment on the beer trip thread and find it very helpful and I’m convinced that Allagash is my best bet. I’m looking to visit on a Thursday when I get in town. I was wondering if I should reserve the brewery tour or just show up? Can I just sample the beers at the counter or I need to book the tour?

Here’s what I got planned and I would appreciate suggestions or alternates.

Day 1:

Morning Hike at White Mountain

Arrive around 3pm

Grab some food close to hotel (Fishermen’s grill & sandwich at Po’Boys and Pickels)

Squeeze in Allagash Brewery

Day 2:

Visit Casco Bay

Lunch at Evendite. Plan B The Honey Paw

Visit Port Elizabeth

Grab Lobster roll at Bite into Maine

Supper @ Central Provision

Novare Res for Beers

Day 3

Farmer Market (Not sure if it’s worth it?)

Drive to Freeport

Family shopping at Outlets while I visit Maine Beer Company and grab bite at Buck’s Naked BBQ (Any specialty I should order?)

Drive to Boothbay Harbor

Grab some fish from Bet’s fish fry

Afternoon hiking

Late supper @ Lobster Wharf or Shannon Unshelled (Any suggestions?)

Day 4

Heading back to Montreal via

Kennebunk / Ogunquit

Quick lunch?? Any rec?

Portsmouth

Quick stop at Goody Coles Smokehouse

Vermont (Montpelier)

Perfect, thanks guys.

Ok, I might go with Central Provision since you mentioned that they had raw dishes. Good selection of local beers I hope?

Thanks for the suggestions and tips bobbert!

Not looking for something very formal, so Central Provision is definitely considered.

This leaves me with Miyake, Central Provision and Tao Yuan....

Should reservation in 1 or 2 days prior is good enough?

Thanks for all the help!

Oh great suggestion for NH! I will definitely detour for some good bbq.

Burger suggestion also sounds delicious, might have to convince my gf on that one since she only wants seafood while we are there.

Yes, APDC is very special to us especially in the winter...can't ask for better comfort food. You should try Joe Beef next time you visit Montreal.

Thanks for the heads up for Eventide...I will make sure to be there at 11am on Friday.

I heard good things about Bucks, Salvage and Elmstede...not sure where to go...mainly looking for Brisket because it's almost impossible to find good one in Montreal.

Hey guys,

Roadtripping from Montreal to Portland on labor day weekend.

I have narrowed down a list of restaurants we would like to visit for the Saturday night but can't decide which one to choose.

I would appreciate your thoughts / Opinion.

My list:

-Miyake
-Central Provision
-Fore Street
-Yao Yuan (considering the drive because it looks really good)

Thanks!

Pub to sample California Microbrews

Great, Mikkeller sounds more and more interesting I'm actually really pumped to try this place. IPA's are my preference in taste. I will probably walk there...still in my 20's and not afraid to walk long distance fast...especially when the wife will be waiting at the condo ;)

Pub to sample California Microbrews

sorry...I'm close to Pacific and Mason

Pub to sample California Microbrews

interesting. I got some thinking to do!

Pub to sample California Microbrews

staying in Hollywood west so Long beach might be too far but thanks for the suggestion.

Pub to sample California Microbrews

I am indeed a beer enthusiast...the ideal is to find a place close to our condo downtown where I can walk and grab a pint or two and head back without taking a cab. So I don't really need a pub with 100 local beers but a laid back place with good service and good local beer. (I guess the classic Microbreweries of SF and California. I will definitely consider Mikkeller bar.

Pub to sample California Microbrews

Wow guys.. thanks for all the suggestions. My mainn focus is to sample local beers idealy from SF and around. I am spending some time in LA which I will be on the look out for local beer as well...I'm not looking to sample beer from Vermont , Oregon, Europe etc...Californian Microbrew is what I want. So looks like Toronado and Hogs and on the list and I might have to convince my wife to visit both. As always, thanks for all the help!

Pub to sample California Microbrews

shouldn't be a problem taking off for a couple of hours...I will think about it.

Pub to sample California Microbrews

Awesome will take your word on that...list looks good.

Pub to sample California Microbrews

great, is Hog's worth the trek? wife is only giving me 1 shot at visiting one of these spots so I want to make sure I get to visit the best place.

Pub to sample California Microbrews

Hey guys, visiting SF in September and I would like to know what Pub/Restaurant to visit that offers the best selection of Local brews?

Cheers!

I plan on chasing the Kogi truck...hopefully twitter is reliable to find the truck. Alibi room seems nice less hassle but not sure if they will let me in with a 5 month old baby.
