Brining pork chops

Let me clarify: have you brined and then froze the meat?

What's your fav ramen shop and why?

yeah the hours that Gomen keeps is definitely not convenient for folks like me. tastes pretty darn good though!

Brining pork chops

Hey Jon, I bought a lot of cut pork loin from Costco (only one option right?) and getting the same dry results. I'm sure brining will work out but wonder what would happen if I patted dry and froze them afterwards. Have you ever done that?

Where do Koreans frequent for BBQ in Ktown?

Zion Market is, from what my wife tells me, is the best marinade.

Have you tried Oh Dae San? How does it compare if you've been?

Sushi in the OC - Can't find anything decent and Yelp is absolutely useless!

I didn't do omakase at Noguchi. Maybe that's what I should have done. Kind of hard with a 2 year old in tow.

Sushi in the OC - Can't find anything decent and Yelp is absolutely useless!

Sushi Noguchi is definitely the best of the group. There are two reasons why I didn't care for it: 1. Value - The price tag was way expensive. 2. Sushi rice - getting a little particular but the rice was cold and hard. Quite a shame since the fish on top was amazing.

Thank you all for the great recommendations. I will start my expedition shortly and report back!

I need your help. I live in north OC (Fullerton) and have been looking for good sushi for 6 months since I've moved here. Any suggestions? I don't want to spend a fortune either. About $50 pp would be my budget. Here are disappointing places I've been to so far:

Sushi Noguchi (Yorba Linda)
Ginza Sushi (Fullerton)
Orange Sushi (Fullerton)
Kabuki (Brea)

To give more guidance as to what I like, when I go to LA to eat sushi I go to:

Komasa
Sushi Gen

Thanks for any help offered!

Korean curious

I am Korean and am amazed at how much Jonathan Gold's tastes coincide with mine. Most of the places on the list are excellent but others I still need to try.

Looking for romantic dinner place (10th year anniversary)

I would prefer to stay in the Long Beach area if at all possible, but I know the dining choices are quite limited so anywhere in the general LA/OC metro is fine. Please limit the cuisine to French, Italian, American or Japanese. I'm not willing to experiment for my 10th year anniversary. Thanks!
