Ver Daddy's Taco Shop - Biscayne Blvd MIA

just a side note, i dont think refried beans ever look appetizing per se. they look goopy.. i think when it comes to refried beans its not about looks.

Best Places to eat near FIU South Campus?

you know- i did go to the 100% natural juices place at dolphin mall and thought it was really good and really fresh. however, isnt traffic at the mall pretty nasty?? anyone know if its like that during weekday lunchtime?

simple pleasures..miami

actually i do live near that price choice on 19th but ive never been there. i always end up going north for groceries. does this bread have a name or brand that i should look for or will it be obvious?? also, about what to put in the sandwhiches....is it just whatever i feel like?? i should probably do a google search for this but a friend told me i shouldnt even bother trying to make them myself.

simple pleasures..miami

what and where do you go to eat those simple pleasures in miami?? i have been appreciating migas sandwiches which are argentine tea style sandwiches on thinly sliced bread without the crust....though there's nowhere near my place that sells those and im wondering if its something i can make at home.

Coffee in Miami

kaffa cafe....nice people running it. coffee is good and the whiskey vanilla cake was sooo heavenly!

Coffee in Miami

tinta y cafe is probably my favorite coffee place in miami...but i find myself craving it at times when they are closed........!

Coffee in Miami

they do have good lattes...but....they open when they feel like it....if it weren't on my drive to work, i would find myself dissappointed to head there and find it not open. also, the coffee sizes are smaller than at other places...still its good every now and then, but not as an every day stop.

2 New Design District Spots

been to domo twice now. first for dinner then for drinks....for dinner its a really great place in terms of the atmosphere. my pork ramen was saltier and too much flavor for me ....and dinner was pricier than i would spend, but since its near my house and had the perfect atmosphere for a romantic special dinner i will keep going back. went for drinks tonight and it was great again. 2 for 1 ! cant complain about that.

still havent tried brosia...but am thinking about going for breakfast. anyone else know of any awesome breakfast places in the design district or wynnewood? the only place i really know of is lost and found..

Best Places to eat near FIU South Campus?

wow very good. im still a bit hesitant to explore the different strip malls/shopping centers...but the times i have ventured in have been pretty decent.

Por Fin restaurant

hey! i know this is an old post, but i thought i would reply since i dined at por fin last night. they're not technically open to the public yet but since i'm friends with the chef. here's what i think:

The restaurant’s design is modern, sophisticated, and chic. The color palette is dark wood with beige. The staff is friendly and attentive. The location of the restaurant is perfect and I am sure it will become very popular very fast. The food was incredible. We had bread, several appetizers, two entrees, two desserts, and wine and each of those was so good we couldn’t stop saying “this is so amazing” after just about every bite.
The three different types of bread are served with a tomato dip, a hummus type of dip, and olives. I hate olives, but I ate a bunch of these as they weren’t bitter, but had the intense flavor of cumin. And, the hummus type spread was really good too. For appetizers we tried the caprese salad which was very good, the patatas bravas (the best potatoes I’ve ever eaten), a pear fiocchi (yummy fresh pasta filled with pear and cheese in a light sauce), a filet mignon salad, and two eggs with potato crisps and Serrano ham on top. The eggs were my sister’s favorite of all the dishes and she says that will be what she orders next time. Each course sounds like it would be heavy what with the eggs, potatoes, and meat but they were all very light and even though we probably consumed about 3,000 calories each we still didn’t feel heavy after the meal. For the entrees I had the short ribs (melted in my mouth!) with potato foam and my sister had the lobster with coconut rice (she really liked it though its more of a heavy meal than she prefers to have). For dessert we order chocolate soufflé and torrija (a soft brioche French toast) which were sinful but worth it.

The drive to coral gables is a pain for us, but we will definitely be coming back for more! Especially if they have a happy hour at the lounge upstairs.

Also, I don't really think I am biased because I am friends with the chef, this is the first time I tasted his work and I was blown away.

Best Places to eat near FIU South Campus?

Hi. I'm a grad student at FIU's South campus and I am sick of the fast food places on or near campus. Anyone know of some good places to eat around there? Especially helpful would be some late night joints and places that deliver.

Thanks.
