AQ or Commonwealth and dinner in Marin County

I haven't been in SF for many years but will be back in town for a day soon. I was recommended to have dinner at AQ or Commonwealth and was wondering what the better choice would be. Or are there even better recommendations with similar food/environment?

Also we will be spending one night on San Anselmo and was wondering if there are any recommendable restaurants in that area.

thanks!

breakfast/early lunch near SFO

Early means from around 7:30am - 2:30pm. I am really open to any specific area, but having red the first response above, dim sum or similar sounds very appealing. BART is a good idea, but am not sure where the BART stops in the city.

breakfast/early lunch near SFO

Hi
I will be spending 7 hours during a stopover at SFO this Friday morning and was hoping to leave the airport for a little bit for some nice breakfast/early lunch. Anything in that area wich is only a decent cab ride from the airport?
Thanks

Sushi in Hollywood/Beverly hILLS

Any suggestions for some good Sushi places in the Hollywood/Beverly Hills area. Someone suggested Sushi Roku. While I have never been, I haven't heard too many good things about it. Since it is for a date, a nice atmosphere would be a plus.
Thanks

right place for the first date in a long time

I really appreaciate all the suggestions above, which I believe are all indeed great ideas for a first date - thanks. I might actually try Violet for the first time. Then again, thomtompkins, I like what you say. I am not trying to be pretentious by going to a nice place but want to enjoy a nice evening with good company and good food. Thanks for the thoughts.

right place for the first date in a long time

Well, unfotunatley it has been quite a while since my last date. It's been that long ago that I don't even seem to remember where to go for a first date dinner anymore - I assume that a lot of things have changed. The plans are to go to a restaurant on the Westside. I used to enjoy Josie and Melisse, but I get the feeling that these might be a bit much for a first date. Other places that I have thought of, but have not yet been to are Wilshire, Rustic Canyon, and La Botte - any comments? I am looking for a place with great food and nice atmosphere, while not being too noisy. As my date does not eat meat, the place should have a nice variety of vegetarian and fish dishes.

Russisch Brot, anyone?

Try the German grocery store at the Alpine Village in Torrance. They are very well stocked with German products. If you can't find it there, you can order them online at www.germandeli.com

Going to Old World Village Oktoberfest tonight...any recs?

I just went last week. If you have dinner at the adjacent German restaurant, you can buy the tickets from the waiter and bypass the long line - that's what we did. It's definitley worth it.

Being German myself, I have to say that the food at the restaurant is definitley not the best German food, but not too bad. We had the Schweinebraten (Pork) with gravy, which I would not recommend - the meat was good, but the gravy tasted like from a can. The Wiener Schnitzel (veal, not pork) was pretty good, though. Later that night we also had a Bratwurst from one of the stands, which hit the spot (the amount of beer we had might have impacted our judgement, though). Try the Weihenstephaner Weissbier at one of the stands. It's very good beer that you don't get often here in the US.
