Caramel Apple question
I did not see that show, however when we have made them in the past we stored them at room temp...the carmel was softer... I know the candy stores also store them at room temp... they sound really good : )

Paris street food
we were there spring 2006 and we found some great food at the little bakeries, they even had lunch specials a sausage w/cheese and mustard prebaked in a french baggett w/drinks and chips or cookies for abot 6 or 7 E....we also loved the rue Cler street store front sausage lady, she had a little charcoal grill and sold them hot in the bun, there were 5-7 diff. kinds to choose from...also the different restaurants have great lunch/dinner (cheep eats) daily specials...we stayed in the rue Cler area and had a wounderful time there... : )

A Couple of Cast Iron Questions
Hi...I do Mt.Man/Black Powder event cooking (all outdoors in 1760-1840 dress) over wood or coal and only in cast iron dutch ovens...I do things that make the other cooking contest woman frown..like wash my cast iron later at home with Mrs. Meyers soap then toss them in the hot oven to dry.. I just season them when its time for the next trip...I also do this with my pans and put them on a hot burned after washing....I know...but... it works for me... sometimes if they are really bad or I have over seasoned them (thats the drippy looking stuff) I toss them into the oven and turn it to clean : ) they come out real nice....I also put paper towls between the lids and pices to help keep them dry, so that can not lead to rust...I have won three out of four times this summer and my food always comes out nice and clean...I have seen some with that black stuff stuck on, not to good looking : ( ......hope this helps you enjoy cooking with cast iron! : )
My last win was with fresh peach pie in an 8" dutch oven..it worked very well!
Football fan-guy friendly veggie dish??
Whether you choose to buy or make your own crust, pizza is still very E-Z....just top with a little store bought pizza sauce and sprinkle on assorted toppings (onion, olives, green peppers, fresh mushrooms, etc..), then add shredded mozzarello cheese and bake or grill over indirect heat untill done...also you could make up a veg lasagna using squash/zucchini instead of meat...hope you have a great time!
containers/boxes for holiday toffee
We did that type of thing last year...best box for the buck we found through the resturant supplier store....there were 100-300 for only $ 5.00-22.00 depending on size and style..mostly in white..you could even rubber stamp on them etc... the other thing we did was go to a stamping store and use their machine to cut out boxes of card stock then fold and glue etc.. they were about .30-.75 each when all done.... this worked well for us I hope it will help you out... : )
Help - my friend is always broke!
I have been this guy.... I felt that I had other things to spend my money on, but, I still wanted to go and have a little treat. Yes, I did eat before I went : ) I never wanted anyone to call attention to it....I would have died!!! ... I wanted to be there having fun and not feeling like I owed anyone... I just stuck a little $$ aside for our trips out... I also use to think after we all went home that I was glad that I had not wasted my money that way.... So I would say let him just enjoy your group and let him choose where he wants to go now and then and have fun life is too short and we lose our frinds way too soon : )
