Fine dining for college graduation (parents paying)
My stepson is graduating college in August and we would like to take him for a great dinner. We are willing to travel from Delray to Ft. Lauderdale and cost is not an issue. We do not want to go for steak or Japanese, but just about anything else would be great. Any suggestions? Tyvm!

sorry, i had not had my coffee when i wrote that! we live in ft. lee, they live in fairlawn - so anywhere from ft. lee to ramsey, up to closter. any price range is okay for us, expensive to inexpensive. italian, french, american, greek - but none of us like japanese or korean or indian! thanks again.

In search of Farmer's Markets - Broward /Dade County
parkland has a farmer's market but it is small and still growing. last year was the first year and they have kept it going this year. it is at the equestrian center on holmberg road. it does have fresh fruit and vegetables, some bakery stuff. it is on every other sunday with the next one on 3/15 b/w 9-1. you can go to www.cityofparkland.org for more information.
Fort Lee Here I come
Fairway Market on Anderson Avenue is a gourmet type grocery with a wide assortment of fish, meats and fresh vegetables & fruits. They also have prepared foods. Go to Miller's on Anderson Avenue in Cliffside Park for bakery stuff - cliffside is the next town over from ft. lee. For Chinese food, we like John's Shanghai in Edgewater which is also one town over from Ft. lee in another direction. For Spanish food, we like Meson Madrid on Bergen Blvd. - not sure if this is still ft. lee there or Palisades Park. For BYOB - inexpensive - David's in Cliffside and Tuto el Modo es Mio in Ridgefield Park. For more expensive BYOB and further away, but still in Bergen County, there is the Saddle River Inn (french) in Saddle River (I think) and Cafe Panache (American- i guess) in Ramsey.

Piccola Venezia, L'Incontro, Manducatis, or Manetta?
not a big fan of L'Incontro which i think is quite noisy and the waiters a little obnoxious but the food is good. we love piccolo's - have been eating there for about 25 years now and always have a great meal. my favorite for the past 2 years has been the buco-loni - osso bucco stuffed large tortellin in a brownish redish sauce - absolutely yummy! my husband always has the veal chop sorrentino, delish!

the food is better at johnny v's than at casablanca cafe & the people watching on las olas is better than looking at a black ocean, in my opinion. the food is excellent at eduardo san angel and it is a good atmosphere for a solo diner. it is a small place with excellent service. i have never eaten at mario's catalina so cannot speak to that one.

well, casa d'angelo is great italian, but the outdoor seating faces the parking lot. not exactly the great florida outdoor seating you are looking for. you might want to do the outdoor seating at johnny v's on las olas - you can walk up and down las olas either before or after dinner. or you might want to do the outdoor seating at casablanca cafe which faces the ocean, although at night, the ocean is just black.
Boca Raton/Delray - Rehearsal Dinner Ideas
you might want to try maggiano's in boca at town center - i know it is, gasp, a chain, but they have nice private rooms and can do a nice sitdown dinner. we had my husband's 65th birthday there and it was quite nice. they are quite attentive to your needs. and not too expensive.
Lunch on Las Olas
johnny v's is not too expensive for lunch, as long as it is not on a sunday when they open at 5:00, i am not sure about saturday. you can sit outside, eat and people watch. i seem to recall that the lunches were about $10-11 range.
closed or closing fort lauderdale area
a few of those places on las olas which are never the hotel have closed because the hotel bought them out and is supposed to expand. who know what will be now?

what about cuban food - padrino's on university dr. iin plantation. the chuletas de puerco are my favorite (pork chops) but everything is good andnot expensive.

any good cubanos near Coral Springs/Boca?
i don't know about cubano sandwiches, but we like to eat cuban food at padrino's in boca on 441 & glades in the mission bay shopping center. they have the cubano's on the menu, i have just never had them. i love love love their chuletas de puerco though! and everything else that we have tried is yummy too, so i would imagine the sandwiches are good too.

you can take the back room of Casa D'Angelo in Ft. Lauderdale if you have enough people. the food is very good northern italian.
