New Thread on JTM and Atwater

We won't have cooking facilities at our hotel and I don't think we can bring back crab or shrimp to the US, can we? I guess we'd settle for eating some on the spot, though! :-)
So, no fresh fruits and vegies yet? Will only the indoor market be open? I will def. miss all the beautiful flowers and plants!

New Thread on JTM and Atwater

We'll be coming next week but usually come to Montreal in June, so a bit different for us. Please tell me what's good/available at both markets this time of year? We are looking forward to a "different" montreal in March this time.

Any new BYOs in the Plateau I should try?

SnackHappy I have to agree. Each year we NEVER miss Les Heritiers. But we loved their old location and menu. The new place is awesome -- make no mistake -- but the menu, not so much. The new location is absolutely gorgeous, but the food was disappointing.
I made a reservation for next week for Tandem, but read in my notes from last year that while I liked Tandem, their portions were small. maybe it was just the night we went or what we ordered, but I remember hubby wasn't too happy :-( I booked La Colombe instead, which we haven't gone to for a couple of years.

Any new BYOs in the Plateau I should try?

Yes, what did you like? We are going to Montreal next week and I've already made a reservation. We're going to Tandem, O'Thym and Monsieur B.

O'Thm or La Prunelle?

thanks, sweettooth. we had gone to O'Thym a few years ago and did like it, but have never been to LaPrunelle. Or, I could switch out Tandem and then go to BOTH O'Thym and LaPrunelle. Whatya think?

O'Thm or La Prunelle?

Which would YOU choose and why?

Please help me choose Restaurants

We've narrowed it down, but I can only choose three. Please give me your votes! Thank you!
LaPrunelle, O'Thym, Monsieur B and Tandem. One of them has got to go, and I'm at a loss!

Any new threads on Bistro L'Entrepont?

Haven't seen anything since 2011. Has anyone been lately?

L'Autre, Europea, LeGrain DeSel

Opps....my bad. I meant to list Monsieur B, one of our favs. I'm rethinking O'Thym, as well as Tandem...I've read some not-so-good reviews. We used to always hit Les Heritiers, but since they moved and changed their menu, we didn't like it as much.
Thank you for reminding me about Le Bleu Raisin. We went a couple of years ago..weren't unhappy, but obviously did not return for some reason, I guess.

L'Autre, Europea, LeGrain DeSel

Thank you to all! I think I'll go with O'Thym, La Colombe, Quartier General, and maybe Tandem.
Good selections?

L'Autre, Europea, LeGrain DeSel

Any comments on the food? Also, are they BYO or not? Thank you very much

Any new BYOs in the Plateau I should try?

Love the whole Plateau area and there are so many BYOs to choose from. Does anyone have any favorites? Has anyone tried anything new? I'd love to hear!
Thanks!

Ridgewood, NJ -- LaLanterna

Has anyone been? Heard it was small, but awesome, and a BYO. Looking for any reviews/feedback.
Thanks, Chowhounds!

plastic take-out soup containers

I'm pretty sure i bought some at the dollar store on St. Laurent

Cote de Rhone at TJ's in Westfield

Bought a bottle of a very nice (and dry) tasting Cote de Rhone...very inexpensive...maybe $5.99 or $6.99? forgot to write down the name and now for the life of me I can't remember it. It was a short and stout bottle...to the effect that it would not fit in your standard wine bag. sound familiar to anyone?
Thanks!

Traveling to Montreal with a Fine Dinning Chef

Max! We're going in a couple of months....and to all 3 of your recs for BYOBs!!! All three are fantastic and our favs! I think the poster will enjoy as well.

atlantic city dinner ideas

For inexpensive, there's Angelo's Fairmount Tavern. Fits right into your budget. Not a BYO but they make their own (palatable) chianti.

atlantic city dinner ideas

Well, when the poster said 20-ish, I can't remember anything on the menu for that price. Hubby had filet mignon at $54 and I had a fish dish at $38...and that was a couple years ago! Doesn't come with any vegies...so a side of asparagus that we split was $9.
But, as you say, the draw here is that it's a BYO.

609-345-2022 -- definitely not in your price range! BYO, so entrees are very expensive.

Looking for all you can drink brunch

The '76 House, Tappan, NY. $24.95/pp for their Sunday brunch...for unlimited champagne, add $3.95/pp

Valentina's, Rahway

Their website is down and I haven't found any recent reviews. I did call the phone number left on their answering machine and spoke with a gentleman who tells me they are indeed still open.
Has anyone been here recently?
Thank you, Chowhounds.

Trader Joe's, Westfield

Need a bunch (a lot!) of wine for the holidays. Have a Pinot Grigio we buy a lot of from TJs, but what about a Malbec maybe? Anything interesting and inexpensive but good? There are a few Bordeauxs for $5.99+ that we've tried, too.
What do you buy from TJs?
Thanks!

Zafferano's, East Boston

Thanks, everyone. We come to Boston each year and that was one of our stops. The tiramisu that Pina made was awesome and their grilled calamari was always a hit. It was easy to get to via the "T", too. We do miss the food. Never got a bad meal.

Zafferano's, East Boston

I know it closed years ago, but did anything take its place? Another Italian restaurant, perhaps? Does anyone know? And if so, is it any good?
Thanks!

Trattoria Toscana ??

Penny, when you say they don't have a bar...is it a BYO? If we're staying at the Marriott Long Wharf, is there a "T" stop nearby to Fenway?
Thanks!

What happened to Tutti Gusti in Ocean City, Maryland???

What a shock to see Tutti Gusti was no more. Wherever will we get one of Rodney's "weapons grade" martinis???
Last year they closed early. We found a note on the door saying "thank you for a good season...see you next season."
What a sad thing to see it is now some pizza joint.
Does anyone know what happened???

Sunday night in Montreal

how about le quartier general? it is a byo, though, so you`d have to hit up a SAQ store first unless you`ve got some wine on hand.

Sending Parents on Date in le Plateau

Please post after your parents' meal! We'd love to hear all about it!

Montreal Croissant Update Please

Can someone tell me why no one ever mentions Claude Postel when it comes to croissants? We visit once a year and always make a stop...for croissants and other things.
Should I be going to somewhere even better??? Thanks!

New BYO Tandem

Thank you all! It is not necessary. We have eaten in some restaurants where none of the waitstaff speaks English and we had a fun time using hand gestures and such to understand each other. I have spent each visit with a Berlitz book, helping me to at least speak a few sentences..
The neighborhood places are indeed what we like. I never assume they speak English, which isn't a bad thing at all. We try our best to speak what we can in French and enjoy our time dining.
We do drive to Montreal, so we have access to a car. We never miss a visit to Marche Jean Talon and also Marche Atwater. And those strawberries! Yum!
I am making my reservation at Tandem right now! :-)
