I am sorry to hear of this sad news.Thank God no one was injured. There is another Italian based rest on Kingston Road and Manse Road just around the corner from Fratellies. The Belfiero started out a bit rough but they have a newer cook and the food we had a couple of weeks ago was incredible and very well priced. The owners a nice gut and the staff are very nice and easy to deal with. Check out the lamb and the pasta and pizza are better than Fratellies in my opinion. If you ate there a while ago try it again with the new chef. My wife and I are glad we did. Belfiero
The burgers and steak ona buns are good but the gem of the Real McCoy is their pizza> They make their own sauce and when you ask for extra cheese it is on there. My favourite pizza in Toronto for twenty years and more. Great Greek Fols !!!
I have tried T-Bones twice as I thought the first time maybe they were not having a good day. Unfortunately the second time was even worse. I cannot understand how a grill and a steak can make virtually no flavour. The gravy is brown and tasteless. I don't care how big and cheap a steak is if it doesn't taste good forget about it!!! The best steaks in Scarboro are still The Black Forest and of course the Blackhorn. Although they are pricey they are incredibly delicious and both have cheesecakes out of this world, especially the home made at The black Forest. Thats it I am going there right now.
Tulip is worth it on different nights. The owner tries very hard to maintane the greatness of the original and does fairly well. What made it great was the nightly specials. I still go for the Corned beef and Cabbage. I think that is Tuesday night. Phone and find out. The tulip is and has been a Beaches eatery institution for many years.
Tara Eglinton has a great Irish traditional breakfast right down to the fried tomatoe if I remember it right. Anyhow I loved the food but I have to say that the place stunk to high heavens of what I can only think of was throw up. It was in the carpet and you couldn't escape it. Clean the place up and it will do well again.
I have had the pork version of this at a restaurant called Victors which was located in Scarborough north of Eglinton on Markaham Road.(across from Cougar Crt), They had thin strips of pork with thin strips of bamboo shoots stir fried in a ginger garlic sauce. It was the best tasting thing in the world. The cook was a master chef his wife a master baker. Incredible artists both visually and taste and smell, Oh my God!!! The husband and wife that ran the place dissapeared. So if anyone knows where they went. PLEASE LET ME KNOW !!!!
I have been speaking with alot of people lately about the old days and the best food,(not neccesarily restaraunt), in the GTA. I was telling them about a chinese food restaraunt which was located at the 200 block of Markham road north of Eglinton in Scarborough in 1988. The name was Victor Restaraunt.. The chef team was a very chinese husband and wife. His name Victor and I forget her name. Victor was a master chef and his wife a master baker. Both were taught in China and both studied cooking here in Toronto or at least Canada. This team were by far the absolute real deal. The food was full of the most intense flavours and combinations. I have yet to be as impressed with food artistry as with these two smiling friendly people.. One favourite was shreddded pork, another deep fried crab claws that literally bursted with fresh flavour as the crab meat popped out of the claw resembling an ice cream cone. The best chinese food ever, PERIOD. I went to B.C in 1990 and since returning ten years ago have looked for these two artists. If anyone knows of their whereabouts please let me know. Scarborough gets a ..it kicking for peoples lack of knowing the incredible ethnic diversity and skill of our little 3-4 table take outs. Your Loss. Victor where are you.
