What's for Dinner #334 - the Veteran's Day Edition [Through November 17, 2014]

Happy Friday everyone. I haven't been around in a couple of weeks as you guys may have noticed. It has been one of the tough patches but I am doing better. The saddest part was that my sister and brother were here visiting(first time seeing her in 10 years and 8 for my brother.) and my illness reared its ugly head. I got to see them, but not as much as I would have liked.

Tonight I am back in the kitchen making a spatchcocked chicken, mashed potatoes and smothered green beans with dinner rolls and butter.

I didn't get around to posting yesterday but dinner was a garlic and herb rotisserie chicken, sage stuffing and broccoli rice au gratin.

Tonight is brats, baked beans and French fries.

I haven't been keeping current lately. Shame on me. Been on and off not doing well.

Two nights ago were bbq ribs and coleslaw and cheddar cheese potato salad.

Last night was pepper steak and jasmine rice.

Tonight is going to be baked ziti, belize coleslaw and savory garlic monkey bread.

ETA- James isn't feeling the ziti so we are switching gears to boneless pork loin chops dusted in ranch seasoning, dipped in seasoned egg and panko. Belize coleslaw and asparagus to go along with.

Beer brats and French fries. I am going with spicy mustard and James is loading up with yellow mustard, ketchup, dill relish, cheese and hot sauce. Nothing fancy.

Since James is on vacation we are going to do something unusual for a weekday... fish. We never make fish on weeknights because James won't eat it leftover for his lunch.

Tonight is king fish broiled in butter, lemon and badia, jasmine rice and steamed asparagus.

I haven't been feeling well again so nothing to post from my cold kitchen but Gatorade. Tonight the kitchen will be back in full swing with a simple ham steak, sour cream and chive angel hair pasta and steamed broccoli.

First thing would be that I was expecting the flavor of cinnamon, not savory peppercorn spice. It was just not what I had my immature brain prepared for and it totally spoiled the flavor for me. It is the main reason I haven't tried the Trini- Chinese chicken. Even with all the love I am too afraid. ;-)

You had me all the way up to five spice. My mom subbed that for cinnamon In a cookie recipe as a child and I am still not over the trauma. I am sure things would have gone completely different had I been warned.

My tummy has been a little cranky today so I am having leftover mashed potatoes from Salisbury steak night. James had a co-worker buy lunch for everyone today so he is having his chicken wing lunch box. And I am off the hook tonight.
