What's for Dinner #327-The Scotland Votes Edition!

Last night was supposed to be steaks since they are getting so much love here but the weather didn't cooperate so we had ham sandwiches.

If the rain stays at bay tonight it will be porterhouses, spinach and baked potatoes with sour cream for James, ranch for me, butter, cheddar, bacon and chives. I eat the filet and half the tater and James gets the rest for his lunch. If the rain comes again tonight it will be ham steak, green beans and mashed potatoes and we will try the steaks again tomorrow or freeze them til next weekend.

It already did. Two lovely porterhouses languishing in my fridge as we speak.

Posting early since dinner is set in stone as you know it is my anniversary.

We are starting with two Italian dry salamis one is pepper cured and the leftover prosciutto from the main course of saltimbocca.

Next will be U10 shrimp from the butcher served cold with cocktail sauce.

Saltimbocca and roasted cauliflower as the main.

Mini vanilla eclairs from an Amish bakery for dessert.

Either beer or champagne for James. Vodka and La Croix berry for me.

Happy Saturday everybody.

Thanks, Linda. Nine years with the man of my dreams. Couldn't trade him for anything. Not even money...

Happy Friday everyone.

Tonight is a simple dinner so tomorrow dinner can shine(it is my anniversary).

Sloppy Suzi Joe's(no canned manwich involved)on toasted Marty's Big Rolls with cheddar for James and melty American for me and steak fries.

I am looking forward to dinner which is bubbling away on the stove. Cubed country ribs seared in a pan and then seasoned in Sazon Goya(peach box con culantro y achiote), fresh garlic and oregano, chili powder, cumin, sofrito, caramelized onions, adobo powder, salt pepper and lots of bay leaves. Oh, and deglazed with Native Beer and some pickled jalapeno juice. Black beans were seasoned similarly and jasmine rice will be served on the side. Buttered Cuban rolls to go with to sop up the black bean liquor and pork/beer broth.

My ex SIL loved hers but she was such a bad cook that I scoffed until she and I made dinner in hers. We were dead drunk and the chicken was still wonderful. SOLD!!

What's for Dinner #326 - The Fall Pursuits Edition [September 18, 2014]

Tonight is a simple ham steak, cheddar mashed potatoes and zucchini and stewed tomatoes.

Dinner last night wasn't worth posting since it was chicken noodle and Gatorade and James had leftover stew.

Tomatoes 2014

Those Phoenix tomatoes are very tasty. You'll be glad you got them when they ripen.

Well, strangely enough I had a request this morning that surprised me. I put the ground beef in the freezer yesterday because James almost never grills on a week night. He asked if the ground beef was still going to be good to grill tonight so I pulled it from the freezer this morning to thaw.

Grilled cheddar cheeseburgers, spinach, tomato, pickles, A1, mustard, ketchup, Marty's Big Roll all toasty and chili cheese fries with Steve & Ed's chili sauce.

Oh poor baby. At least he is home and getting some TLC. I hope he feels better soon. I hate being barfy.

Brats were et for lunch and the ground beef is resting comfortably in the freezer.

Smothered pork chops, jasmine rice and zucchini with stewed tomatoes are WFD tonight.

Neither of those dinners happened. James made us a ham and cheese omlette and toast. Worked for me.

Well tonight was supposed to be cheeseburgers and tater tots but it is pouring down rain as of fifteen minutes ago. Switching gears to brats or a ham steak. Either way the sides will be mashed red skinned potatoes and zucchini and stewed tomatoes.

Beef stew is bloop blooping away on the stove. It is a simple one with carrots, onions, celery, red potatoes and button mushrooms. Buttered Chicago hard rolls to sop up the gravy. My house smells wonderful.

I am so happy that kitty has learned the rulez and is a new member of the family at casa lingua. Good for him. He will have a loving home.
