Wine tasting in Napa Valley

One of the best tours is Del Dotto. Absolutely a blast, barrel tasting in the caves and the wines are wonderful. Love the Cabernat Franc! I think they sellit in the futures. I have not been to their new location (they have two) but my appt is already made for June. Tastings run apx $45-50 per person.
Also, Schramsberg has another great tour, the history, the caves, and it is a beautiful location.
A friend just got back and highly recommended Duckhorn (we have that booked as well) Actually he is from Washington State!
have a great time

i heared this restaurant makes best ribs in Phoenix, AZ, any one know the restaurant name?

The Pitt's again ( I think thats the name) on Bell & 57th Avenue, they were on food network. Their BBQ is great, awesome ribs. I also would agree that Houston's ribs are great.

Napa-4 days no kids! suggestions on my ideas?

Okay, the last dinner I need to plan. I think I am between Bistro Don Giovanni and Martini House. Any rec.'s?
I have reservations at Ubuntu, Redd and Pride Mountain so far.

Phoenix downtown for four nights !?

The Roosevelt for wine/beer, great food (roasted tomato soup w/grilled cheese, homemade pretzels with dipping sauces)and his other restaurant Matt's Big Breakfast (I call it high end greasy spoon) local ingredients, everything made fresh. Great spot for breakfast or lunch.

Do you need to bring a picnic to Pride Mountain or do they have food/market there? Also where would you grab a picnic from if you need to? Any other recs? for wine tours/tastings?
We have Redd and Ubuntu reserved still thinking about Ad Hoc as my Husband is not always the most adventurous eater so the set menu doesn't always work. Considering Bistro Don Giovanni for after our Del Dotto tour. Thanks for all the help!

Napa-4 days no kids! suggestions on my ideas?

thanks for the suggestions, I'm always looking for a new place for a picnic in napa, we have never been in the summer only in December, so not looking forward to the crowds. Would you recommend Ad hoc for dinner or Sunday Brunch? I will definitely do Redd and Ubuntu and probably taylors to compare to the place in AZ
And Del Dotto for cave tour (my favorite)

Napa-4 days no kids! suggestions on my ideas?

We have been to Napa several times and have tried the following:
Terra-Loved
Tre Vigne-good, beautiful setting
Press-Loved, lamb pate (yum)
Mustards-good lunch spot
martini House-good
Julia's Kitchen-not good

I'm thinking of trying
Redd-read great reviews
Ad Hoc-will not be in town on a Monday or Wednesday for fried chicken, should we do dinner or Sunday brunch (heard they do the chicken & waffles)
Bistro Don Giovani
Taylors refresher-Lunch, although it seems strangely similar to Joe's Farm Grill in Gilbert, AZ (you should check out both menus) Love Joe's
Need a great spot to grab food for picnic-have done Vi Sattui in the past but that was off season (no crowds)
Breakfast (pastries at Bouchon or i remember a great bakery down the street from Bouchon in Yountville-can't remember the name but it is down the street from our hotel-Villagio and they made the best pastries)
Cindy's backstreet Kitchen
Oxbow market-what suggestions in the market and is their a good place to picnic there?
thanks you for all your suggestions

Resturants/Coffee Shops etc near the John C. Lincoln Hospital (PHX)

Grinders at the corner of Central and Dunlap, great coffee, makes his own pastries. Also, Bomberos on Central just south of Dunlap, wine bar but has great food and open for breakfast and lunch. Mexican food, El Bravo on 7th street south of Dunlap has great food, small local owned place.

Please help me find a great bakery for b-day cake (PHX)

It's a drive but Rock Springs cafe north of Phoenix off the I-17 (apx 45 minutes) has the best pies. Jack Daniels Pecan Pie (yum!) We have actually driven to pick one up to take as a gift. Their peach is also great, I have not tried the rest but they make a lot.

What type of flour should I dust on Sweet Potato to make Crispy Sweet Potato fries?

The only way I have gotten them to be crispy is in a convection oven at 425, olive oil and sea salt

Pizzeria Bianco Tips (Phoenix)

In the past I have gone down early apx 4:00 with a magazine, put my name on the list at 5:00, actually asked for the second seating and went next door, had a glass of wine or two, appetizer and had the rest of my group meet me at 5:00 for the wine & apps and got in at 6:30. On a nice day it made for a relaxing evening. Like other chowhounds have mentioned, I ended up talking to a family from CA who came to Pizzeria Bianco for the Dad's B-day for the entire hour. If we are not with our kids we always will take bar seating which does seam to shorten the wait by sometimes an hour. Last week we had reservations for six which was also great, but booked a couple weeks in advance.

phx - best use of bacon

I have to say that I just came back from Pane Bianco, thinking I was going to be healthy and order the salad, but he had his bacon sandwich as the market special. That may be one of the best uses of bacon I have ever had.

(PHX) What's the big deal with Matt's Big Breakfast?

We go to Matt's on the weekends and we bring our kids, they do have high chairs (I've used them) and if you have not had their pork tenderloin scramble, your missing out. Not something I see on the IHOP menu.

Questions re: Scottsdale, Tucson, and some smaller southwest destinations

Cafe Poca Cosa in Tucson is wonderful. We always get the chef selection plate it makes it fun and interesting, never had anything we didn't love. If they have the mexican chocolate mouse, it's definitely worth getting.

Questions re: Scottsdale, Tucson, and some smaller southwest destinations

Cabela's restaurant is right next door to Dos cabezas wine tasting room. I believe one of the chef's is from the Northwest, they are friends with the owners of Dos cabezas and the food is supposed to be amazing. It was closed last time we visited our friends at Dos cabezas. Their is also a great coffee shop in Patagonia, that had wonderful coffee and freshly made baked goods. can't remember the name but it's the only one on the main street.
