Strip T's increasing funkiness
Yes, 5 hounds, after meeting up at Roksana & discovering it was only take-out w/no tables, regrouped at Strip T's for lunch. We shared 2 orders of the grilled romaine w/oxtail, poached egg, chili vin, sandwiches: lamb shoulder w/watercress, roasted onions, yogurt, grilled shrimp po' boy w/cheddar, pickles, spicy mayo, sauerbraten spec'l, an order of moxie wings & moist, dark chocolate cake. We also thought the cheese on the po'boy was an odd ingredient, but ok. Wish it had been fried oysters instead. The lamb sandwich was delicious & Iiked the sauerbraten. Those moxie wings were finger-lickin & stickin good. We all agreed the hands-down favorite was the grilled romaine w/oxtail, so wonderfully rich w/the poached egg. Service was excellent providing bev naps, changing plates & silver, refilling water glasses & having the kitchen aportion the sandwiches. We got in just in time before 1pm to get our party seated in this popular, bustling place. Looking forward to going back for the dinner menu & those soft shell crabs, if they're still on the menu.

Unique Chinese is back
Last weekend, 3 of us decided to take one for the team - very disappointing. The menu is nothing like the old place - typical Americanized for the most part. The Basil Chicken, Noodles(looked like plain boxed spaghetti) w/Shredded Pork & Mustard Greens & Spicy Foon were all very greasy & lacking in any discernable flavor. The Shredded Beef Stomach in Chili Oil, if you added some black vinegar, barely passed & most was left behind. The counter guy was brusque when you could find & engage him, telling us that tap water was not available - only drinks from the cold fridge. Didn't notice some spec'l items like oxtail, etc. until we were on our way out after having to wait & wait for the guy to come back up front to get our check. Would be interested if anyone's had a positive experience.

Surprisingly, Mt. Auburn Star had virtually no lamb this past Saturday other than a few shrink-wrapped items, Brigham Circle Stop & Shop had none this morning. McKinnons is advertising baby lambs & goats to order and fresh frozen rabbits.
