Arg - Tip Top closed on Mon. - where now in San Antonio?
Thanks so much! I just saw this place on Man V. Food and it did look yummy. I'll be visiting family in Corpus for several days, so we may end up getting CFS there (great little diner called Price's Chef that has been around since 1940,) and trying Boudro's in San Antonio. Too much food, too little time! I'll let you know what we decide.

Hello!
I will be in San Antonio for one day later this month (Monday, unfortunately,) and wanted to find the best Chicken Fried Steak in town. I was all set to try Tip Top Cafe, but now I see that they are closed on Monday. Perfect. Where else has great CFS in San Antonio?
Visiting Sanibel/Siesta/St. Pete....recs and comments?
We had a very good meal at Doc Ford's in Sanibel, and that was really the only food of the trip worth mentioning! It's not so much a "little joint," but those are pretty much nonexistent in Sanibel/Captiva. They also have an excellent rum bar if you are so inclined!
Ethnic in Lower DE
I just want to say that I ate at "Vietnamese Restaurant" last night after driving up from Norfolk and it was EXCELLENT. I had never noticed the place before! The new owners are Thai, so they have added several Thai dishes to the menu while keeping the former owner's Vietnamese recipes intact.
I had Pho Ga and my husband had Thai Green Curry, which he claims was the best he ever tried (and he lived in Thailand for 2 years.) My chicken soup was awesome as well. I highly recommend this place. We are in Dover twice a year, and we will definitely go back every time.
Driving from SD to SF and need recs for in-between
In Moonstone Beach/Cambria you must, must, must eat at The Sea Chest (if you are into seafood, of course!) Request a seat at the bar where you will be able to watch the kitchen staff in action. Tables are boring in this place, trust me. Steve (the wonderfully sarcastic chef) will typically strike up a conversation. Try the calamari steak or the cioppino!
There may be a wait and it is cash only, but it is a definite must-stop. It is located on the stretch of Moonstone Beach with all the cute kitschy motels facing the water.
