Best Fish and Chips in Detroit ? Nooooooooooooo! to Scotty Simpson's. Tried the cod and the smelt. If you like your food sweet - you will love their batter. Anytime the batter outweighs the fish 2-3/one is a tip-off that something is amiss. All in a lovely Brightmoor setting (although the popo's sat at the next table so I felt safe) |

Is Tilsiter cheese available anywhere? [Detroit area] Is Tilsiter cheese available anywhere? (the stinkier the better) Years ago it was available at Plum Hollow Market in Southfield or at the Alexander & Hornung deli stores. Occasionally, I find it in Windsor - but it is an awfully mild sort, more like Havarti. Any leads? |

Are real tomatoes available in DTW? Doesn't matter what time of the year - I can't find real tomatoes. Not even in Leamington in August. Tried $5.00/lb heirlooms - but they were hollow/tried out. |

Check out the huge Chinese market on Washtenaw Ave just east of US 23. Large selection of spices dirt cheap. (don't even get me started on the HIGHLY unusual selections of everything available there - should be on everyone's list to visit.) |
