Las Vegas - Top Chef/Iron Chef Restaurant recommendation

Had the rossini burger at kellers burger bar, was amazing although pricey. I heard mixed reviews about border grill one from ELV eatting las vegas blog (was a judge on iron chef) was really good but I have not had myself. Heard good stuff about scarpetta(conant) pasta wise and all the stuff ive had at cosmo was good. Less pricey and ive MOSTLY had good meals at wolfgangs bar and grill in mgm (best bread basket ever if you dont count french butter at robuchons) only sad meal i had was steak sandwich when i wanted the kobe burger, the blue cheese chips are amazeballs tho. Have heard alot of bad things about craftsteak and mesa grill from this board. soo i recommend wolfgangs and burger bar from actual experience

Also kerry simon an iron chef judge has KGB in flamingo, another burger joint, but who can deny the burger craving. Ive heard loads of good things about, minus the fries not being too special. Although if u eat the rossini burger first you may be ruined.

Idk if you care but they also have the best thing i ever ate las vegas on the food network site which includes lotus of siam(which everyone will recommend) tao, and mesa grill shrimp'grits thing and some others.

Best mid-priced options

also do secret pizza for sure for experience and good slice late night or lunch

Best mid-priced options

lunch/dinner/ or latenight at wolfgang pucks at mgm, order tasty stuff like blue cheese chips app and they offer hearty portions of others like meatloaf and prime burger(get extra onion compote if you love onions likeme), best bread rly ever if they give it at lunch

milos 20.12 is a good lunch. at cosmo but the fish was sad for lunch the other courses were much better tho (it was good fish but mine was served with several bones in it) I must say tho that the olive oil was the best ive ever tasted for dipping bread which they take away asap after they serve apps. the other stuff on the menu was good tho for 20.12 they would charge like 10x more for the same at dinner so i would say its a great value

btw its a bacon wrapped meatloaf $$

Alone in Las Vegas on X-Mas Eve & X-Mas Day...any ideas for places to go?

try something new, really most places are cool solo, but more favorable that ive been to solo are L'atelier and public house from palazzo or venetion w/e and burger bar which i had the rossini burger at then was stuck with the dessert burger after so much decadance of that first one to eat up, interesting flavors not sure what other places offer on those dates for holiday menus as far as being special also loved gordon ramsay steak tasting wasnt awkward solo only silly thin gis hearing the waitress bringing people in the room explaining the lighting fixture over and over and the dessert was sad. If it was me I would probably do ramsays again depending what I was hungry for, pearl in mgm had like a 90buck menu and all of the stuff was awesome if you like miso soup and you get a surf and turf entree and something else but the battered lobster and beef were effin awesome

one week in Vegas... our first time and looking for a few good meals

Been to vegas several times, still alot I havnt tried but heres some of my hits. Also stay at the mgm usually so obviously I've eatten there quite a bit.

Gordon Ramsay's Steak, although I want to try carnevino also still, but I had to try that famous wellington. Probably the best meal I've had from the $135 chefs menu even over L'Atelier and Picasso menus, although L'Atelier there are alot more courses also more $$

Nobhill Tavern had some really good food there, and some great drinks, was a little let down with some of the apps didnt think the lobster roll/ pulled pork sliders were that great, or the burger. Had the best chicken I have ever eaten (non fried)

Fiamma in MGM kinda hit and miss I always go my first night for calamari and dinner, shortribs and lobster gnocchi, surf and turf all thumbs up. Sadly for an italian place the meatball/red sauce were an abomination. Some good drinks also.

I would say do secret pizza in the cosmo just for the experience one day for lunch or something, open late too I believe. The pizza is good too and hanging out at the pool table/lounge area while eatting can be fun.

As for the dress code you can get away with alot at most places. I think I could dine almost anywhere with a nice collared shirt and dark jeans. Other than maybe like the mansion Joel Robuchon. I think some places would possibly refuse you in say sleevless shirts/tshirts/shorts/flipflops if they say dressy, but its pretty much give me your money take all comers.

$500 credit @ Cosmopolitan - how to best use it?

havnt really heard a bad review about anything in cosmo, they have to have the best full spread of restaurants around. Milos lunch on the cheap for sure, ive actually had ++ didnt care for the fish offering. Secret pizza, awesome, get a slice every time im in town hang out and play some pool in the lobby. Yet to try the others, only so many meals you can have in a stay unfortunately, but high on my list is scarpetta, holsteins, comme ca, e meh idk if thats for me dining solo. Depends what your in the mood for I guess

Lounge/Bar to surprise husband for Vegas 40th bday get together

they have always had great service and knowledgable staff when ive been there, you can get a bunch of *happy hour* apps and drinks from like 530 till close or something, the shrimp were alot bigger than expected, the lobster rolls smaller, and the bbq pork aint bad. make sure you try their signiature drink like the nobhill cable car? its reeealy good has like cinamon sugar rimmed glass. and if in the mood for lots of food they serve the micheal mina specialty lobster pot pie they bust out table side, wasnt that impressed with the kobe burger, rather have wolfgangs from his cheap restaurant right next door ( open late) im sure they have drinks too, and blue cheese chips(if you like blue cheese you must have these sometime), bacon wrapped meat loaf i had there were AWESOME, and their bread has been the best ive had, if you count out the bread w/ FRENCH BUTTER* from la'telier, the bread was actually better, but the french butter is the win.

Foie in Las Vegas

Had the rossini burger at burger bar last run and it was pretty awesome, like the most luscious thing ever (nice to add your own truffle sauce or sprouts to every bite, and it comes with dessert which I didnt get an option like I have seen in other posts. They just sent the dessert burger which was meh. Maybe proportioned differently would be better but alot of interesting flavors going on w/ mint and passion fruit/ nutella/krispy creme wanna be donut so I used a knife and fork). Also had the tasting at picasso and their seared was very nice. Almost wanted that to be the main instead of the veal cause it was a bit heavy heh I think it seeped out my pores for the whole day, I smelled like a walking steak of foie~ which made me hungry lol. Only downside of the meal at picasso was wait between courses, but I was dining solo.

Nobhill in MGM is pretty chill, and you can get some good eats, however they are only up till 10:30 not sure how long you were wanting to hang out but im guessing thats a bit early =/ but already being in the area saves a trip for most.

Las Vegas Cosmopolitan: Wicked Spoon

heard good things about the ceasars new buffet, like they prepare alot to order, and small portions as opposed to trays of stuff sitting around, not sure about crab legs, or macaroons however i also heard that recently the price went up, and they downsized the dining area, not sure if this still holds true

Diner's Drive-In's and Dive's Type Stuff Near The Strip?

Surprised noone has mentioned Tacos el Gordo, can take the bus or walk from strip. Cheap tacos or get a box full of adobadas fries.

K I have so far skipped over lotus of siam and tacos el gordo, those I will make sure to hit. I will also probably do the lobster pot pie at nobhill, which I have hit several times and loved the food, the apps were bigger than expected, and the bar eatting is great! never had the pot pie tho. try their signature drink its like a dessert practically. Might hit la'telier again for seasonal or get a few picks off the small plates menu. Will def hit wolfgangs in mgm up cause the bread alone is worth it and its like super value awesome food, have had the burger(awesome get extra onion marmalade) and steak sandwich , the meatloaf(wrapped in pancetta or bacaon?) and pizzas all look amazing and its open late. Fiamma a few times over for the short ribs and calamari and public house had GR8 bar food devils on horseback and burger/fries and the farm egg. seablue sucked ass for their happy hour menu. Pearl had a great tasting menu soup general tsos, lobster, beef, and a awesome pastry dessert. maybe milos for lunch but its so stuffy for the cosmo, at least you can chill out in the lounge and play pool and eat some nice greazy pizza at night. so thats kinda summary of stuff ive it in the last few trips any reccomendations besides the los/elgordo hehe.

e worth it? and whats the rate now, or order some tastings at jaleo

opinions?

I am not a super fancy diner because there is nothing near me, I love tasting and seeing new things but is this worth it more than just sampling their normal menu, to splurge, I have done the la'telier joel robuchon seasonal and enjoyed it very much but is this worth the scratch or should i just try some jaleo dishes for spanish style

ps wine doesnt offer much to me either just intersted in food experience

Solo dining un-recommendations?

Had a great meal at l'atelier joel robuchon, the only restaurant that ive dined at that didnt have a tv or view of people watching. They offer you things to read, but sitting at the bar you can watch all the chefs preparing food which was great entertainment to me.

Lotus of Siam Help

lotus of siam must have dishes appearantly: nam prik ong, nam kao tod, drunken noodles with sea bass

these were the dishes that i decyphered from many posts/shows

*note* I have not sampled these YET

one is a dip (understated but basically)(featured on the best thing I ever ate on food network)nam prik ong

one is some crispy rice dish(nam kai(o)? tod

and one is of course a noodle/protein dish

they do have an online menu, but these seemed to be the most mentioned dishes, and sounded quite tasty, will be trying them in about a week

also the coconut rice dessert I believe was highly recommended, however I think I'll be stuffed at that point.

Finishing touches needed

Well this is my itenerary for march trip(so far) based on research/past trips (staying at mgm)

Landing day: dinner at Fiamma (love the calamari with banana peppers) and shortrib, the surf and turf was also great on previous trip, great strong cocktails too

Day 2: milos lunch special, dinner at latelier (firsts)

Day 3 Tacos el gordo probly afternoon cause obviously party time by day 2,probably do adobadas, tripe, and head.. maybe brain, and adobadas again by the sounds of it. Then hopping around ceasers doing happy hour at like sushi roku, trevi and palm for drink and food specials

Day 4 secret pizza in the afternoon, and public house for dinner, their menu looks great to snack on, maybe try the burger and some brews

Day 5: lotus of siam must have dishes appearantly: nam prik ong, nam kao tod, drunken noodles with sea bass./ freestyle

Last day before takeoff: Mon Ami Gabi to try the scallops and hanger steak probably

best lineup ever? me thinks, will see, will post back after march 24, and probably ad pics on yelp

may shoehorn in mesa to try the shrimp and grits tamales

Blue Fin Tuna / Expensive Dining

As long as you notify the restaurant I am sure that they will make substitutions for any allergies barring extreme cases, so you probably shouldnt rule anything out for that (tasting menu wise).

Where to splurg for a dinner on the Strip

I read that e changed their pricing scheme from the flat 250 to a different set that doesnt include drinks that ends up being more, so that option will probably go way over your 200pp.
