Has anyone tried the Sriracha Ranch? I got a bottle yesterday and tried a bit and holy heck it's a bit hot for my liking!

Downtown Seattle

Depending on how old your kids are they're not going to like the wait at W&C. Also, Rock Creek can get spendy depending on how adventurous the kids really are.

Solo dining within walking distance of Alaskan and Wall

Buckley's on 2nd has good fish tacos if you're looking for a bar atmosphere.
Elliot's down Alaskan would be good too.

Recommendations for Kid-Friendly Beer Places and Other Ideas for Short Trip

"downtown" Madison Park has a cute neighborhood where you could get sandwiches and things and play on their good playground or even spend time at the Madison Park beach. Everything there is within about 2-3 blocks of each other. There are bathrooms at the beach area. My almost 4 year old loves killing a day down there.

Fremont Brewery is kid friendly and you can bring in your own food.

Volunteer Park has a wading pool and a playground connected. Another really great place for the kids to blow off some steam. It's in North Capitol Hill.

Seattle... Amazon Prime Fresh...?

We get most of our non perishables (toilet paper, paper towels, pasta, rice etc) from Amazon. Just normal Amazon. We pay for Prime each year but we also use it A LOT.

Safeway and their specials tend to have some of the better deals. Look into their delivery. I shop a lot at Fred Meyer (doesn't help you in this instance but if you got a Car-to-Go...) and find they tend to have better produce and meat than our local Safeway does. QFC is going to be a little higher than Fred Meyer.

I'd look into Zip Car or C2G for your case. And look at the prices for anything you can get from the normal Amazon.

Seattle... Amazon Prime Fresh...?

The groceries that I've gotten from them do not justify the cost. You're paying for convenience. Everything is marked well up from QFC/Fred Meyer/Safeway. We used to use them for groceries that would be waiting for us when we'd come home from trips but I don't even do that any longer.

Where in the world did you move to?

Canlis with a kid?

If he's well mannered and you go on the earlier side (6ish) I see no issue with Canlis. They're very accommodating and I would think they would have no issue making simple preparations of items.

Paris restaurants with kids

Setting aside the sarcasm...
I looked at the menu and the entrees listed may be a bit sophisticated for the palate of a "normal" 8-13 year old. Only the parents could really know though.

Offering alternative meals to children - yay or nay

Our almost 4 year old usually eats before us, even more so in the summer. I have no issue making him food that maybe had some of the same components as ours will (roasted chicken) but he rarely eats the exact same meal. Honestly I'd rather him get enough healthy food down him than stand my ground and fight him on eating what we are.
When he gets older and isn't going to be around 7:30/8 I'm sure I'll be less willing to be a short order cook.

Current restaurant pet peeve

$15 salads (that don't come with seafood or another expensive protein)

$15 sandwiches. Seriously???

Nasty "house" wine. There are very drinkable inexpensive wines out there.

Places that serve things like burgers but only offer chips, not fries. Yes, I understand that you need a fryer for fries...but I don't want chips with my burger!

The hiding waitress...where do they go??

ISO Budget-Conscious, Meat-Centric Meals for a Crowd

I'd make 24 and if there's leftovers (which I doubt it) you could always use it to make breakfast sandwiches and freeze them.

Traveling to Paris with child, and question about Frenchie

Ugh. Having been THAT 6 year old being drug to Versailles on a weekend (and I still have nightmares) please don't think you have to go there just because it's your first trip to Paris. You are also going to Euro Disney? Cut yourself a bit of slack!

I'd suggest a day trip instead to Brugge, Chartres, Fontainebleau, or even Rouen!

I honestly can not convey appropriately the hordes of people (most in large groups, with cameras, who don't speak English or French) that will be there on a nice weekend. Trust me. Versailles will be there the next time you're back in Paris!

Sunday lunch, downtown, with kids

Where ever you choose to go in that area you're going to have lot/pay parking.

Serious Pie is communal tables and depending on the ages of the kids it may or may not work. I honestly can't remember if there was a table large enough to seat 7. They usually have a wait (the one on Virginia).

My son, he's almost 4, likes Maximilien. You might be able to get an outdoor table. Call ahead.

Also, Cafe Campagne, again call ahead, would be accommodating.

What went wrong with my chicken kabobs?

Med/High on my outdoor gas grill is a grill temp around 400 degrees. Doubt your electric skillet got that hot.

Plus with an outdoor grill you would usually leave the lid down, thus being able to retain ambient heat also.

Downtown Seattle Restaurants

There have been quite a few threads in the last months re: downtown restaurants.

Personally I've never felt that Blueacre was that outstanding. It suffices but there are much better options too.

Good BBQ in Seattle?

Has anyone tried (I think the name is) Drunkys? Its on Leary north of the Brown Bear but South of Dish.

Brittany

We just spent some time in Normandy and enjoyed the Airborne museum over the WW2 museum in Caen. Omaha Beach was more interesting than Utah.

I've enjoyed Mont St Michel the few times I have been but be forewarned about the hordes of tourist buses that show up. Get there early and go straight to the top before they can and enjoy the wanderings when you're coming back down.

Toronto Hound Summer Re-Visit - Need another round of recommendation and critique.

Honestly, there's only Canlis, that comes to mind, that actually has a dress code in Seattle. We're pretty informal in our dress. As long as you're clean and non-smelly you can go almost anywhere. I've worn jeans before to Lark.
