Yes, Von Hanson's did have it in their freezer section. It is a bit spendy at $9.99 a pound but hopefully the meatballs turn out well...

Had an awesome pork sandwich from Scott Ja Mama's yesterday. No, not BBQ, but a solid sandwich, lot's of meat, good hot sauce, tasty cole slaw, bag of chips. Price......$5 and he said go ahead and grab a soda from the fridge. It's solid.

We went the other night at about 7:45 on a whim. The guy was the rudest person I've ever dealt with. He had an issue with us ordering food because they close at 8. He should have just said were closed. We asked if we could get a pulled pork sandwich and a chicken sandwich. I asked for the vinegar sauce. He asked me if I had ever had it before (not sure why). Then when we didn't order something to drink he had another issue. We said forget it and walked out. Just say your closed if you don't want to sell your food. What a joke.

I've thought a lot about having a Portillo's in the metro area. I think it would take a little time to catch on, but think there is enough variety in the menu that it would work. Thoughts? I'm thinking the Maple Grove are would support it.

The sliced beef 505 is always consistent, good lean meat. The stew meat MFH mentions was inedible.
Tea House Plymouth - Lunch Buffett
Just got back from a lunch buffett visit with a friend. I have to say, this place must be hurting for money. Many of the lunch options were empty. The food was sub-par. I can understand if it's busy it is hard to keep the chafing dishes full, but this was a joke. Pick up your own fork, knife and napkin from the buffett. Anybody else been there lately? Maybe we just hit it on a bad day, but that was horrible.

The standard order has been the sliced beef Pho - 505. In wanting to go off the board for something different, what recommendations would you have? Are the salads good? How about sandwiches?

Philly Cheesesteak in Minnesota
The Philly Cheesesteak at Red's Savoy was awesome:
Philly Steak and Cheese $6.95
Grilled ribeye steak, sauteed onions, banana peppers, pepper relish, lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo with your choice of provolone or cheese whiz
The pepper relish was interesting and added a nice bit of heat. The meat was cooked on the grilltop and cut up. It's worth trying.

Good rye in MPLS
A friend brought over some Rye bread from Mort's Deli. It was outstanding. Plenty of extra rye seeds in the bottom of the bag.
