Harrow restaurants

I've heard good things about Masa, an Afghani restaurant, but haven't tried it yet.

Real US-style hash browns in London?

Haven't tried, but they are on the brunch menu at Christophers in Covent Garden.

Real US-style hash browns in London?

I've tried the "hashbrowns" at the Maggie's in Ealing and they are not the genuine article. They are breakfast potatoes--pan-fried chunks of potato, not grated. I was very disappointed! They waitress indicated that I was not the first disappointed American.

Golders Green

Go to Old Tree--it's a great little Taiwanese cafe with a huge menu. I've been eating my way through it and most things are really good, but definitely get the deep fried chicken with basil.

Blue Plate - Chiswick

The Outsider Tart folks recently expanded into the adjacent space next to their bakery. The bakery has a good selection of American cakes, cupcakes and brownies and decent coffee too. The new space is a small cafe that does a GREAT brunch. The menu is interesting and I had the best American pancakes that I've had in London so far. There's also a good egg dish similar to huevos ranchero. Portions are not American sized though, they were a bit small.

[London] Bocca Di Lupo

Zucca features highly on my list to try. I've heard very good things about it. It's a bit more casual than LL.

I've tried Apsleys and Murano and thought both were decent but not amazing. I did have a standout dish at Murano though--the scallops tartar. They also do a 3 course lunch for £30. The atmosphere is a bit formal and quiet, but no need for a tie.

Spotted on Baker St, London

Just Falafel, on Baker St, spotted just south of Marylebone Road. The space is in process of being fit out, so not sure how soon it will be open. Apparently it's a chain from Dubai and this will be it's second? location in London (first one in Covent Garden). They seem to have an interesting take on falafel with Mexican, Indian and Japanese options among others.

London - Chowmeet at Lahori Nihaari, Upton Park

I enjoyed the food (esp. both karahi dishes) and the company. Nice to put faces with user names. Thanks for organizing.

lamb noodle soup + other northern chinese @ chang's noodle on coptic street

They also serve rou4jia2mo2 (肉夹馍) here. It was my first time trying this dish, but found it to be nicely packed with flavorful pork. I enjoyed this even more than the lamb noodle soup. This place only takes cash and lunch ends at 2:30pm (sharp), when they close for some hours before dinner. I have been too late for lunch more than once here.

Chicory coffee

Traditional Maltese coffee has chicory in it. If you are not adverse to ordering online, you can get it from Jubilee Foods in Malta.
