it's not the recipe of borscht (more correct would be BORSCH). It's the recipe of svekol'nik - beetroot. It's the absolutely other dish. It can be really cooked with beef and without meat at all. But BORSCH is always cooked with PORK! And it's the ukrainian dish - not russian. It's the sour soup, so - tomato paste or tomatos must be added. Or the cider vinegar. And a little sugar - for more delicate flavor.
