Korean Soboro Bread (soboro-ppang)
My local Korean bakery has these amazing biscuits, light and fluffy rather like a coffee cake, called soboro biscuit bread. Some, they slice in half and fill with cream.... It's amazing.
So, to save my wallet, I want to figure out how to make them at home. Anyone have a recipe? You'll make me a very happy girl!
Trendy and Foodie in Atlanta
I'd second both Flip and Holeman and Finch, both are delicious and filled with trendy types.
Latin options in Athens, GA
There's a sign on Sabor Latino's door saying they're closing for 3 months or so due to the economy. Last day is March 2nd, I believe. Eat quick!
Top Chef-Last Meal (Spoiler)
There was an interview where Hosea said he and Leah were dating, perhaps she moved to CO to be with him?
The new "it" food / drink
Oh, have you tried the St. Germain elderflower liquor? It is absolutely amazing. The marketers are really pushing it in bars, and you can find it increasingly in liquor stores as well.
At restaurants alone with bags/packages/belongings: bathroom trip?
When I eat alone, I usually have a book with me. If I have to get up, I'll leave the book open on the table, but take my bags with me. That way, hopefully the waiter will realize I'm not making a run for it.
I'd never leave my bags unattended, though. It only takes a moment for someone to grab your wallet out of a bag.
Wine Scene in Athens, GA
Aromas in Little Five Points is a cool wine bar, and because it's not downtown, they manage to avoid a lot of the annoying aspects of college town bars. They have nice nibbles, and a decent wine selection.
Tea
One of my favorite herbal teas is linden flowers. It's a fantastic after-dinner tea, faintly sweet and delicious.
You can get it here: http://www.stashtea.com/w-111436.htm
HELP: how to make popcorn on the stovetop
For me, I like my popcorn to be super super crunchy, so I start off with enough popcorn to fill the bottom of the pan in one layer, and a couple of glops of oil. Then I turn my stove on as low as possible, and stir occasionally until my corn is a nice toasty brown color. Then I turn the heat up to high and let it all pop. Add a little greek seasoning, and it's perfect!
Mold in Greek spoon sweets?
Ah, sounds like what happened to my elderflower syrup this summer, only mine ended up with little white floaties. I threw it out, very upset, especially since the high acidity of the lemon should have kept it longer. How's it smell?

There are actually 2 Ethiopian restaurants in this shopping center, you're looking for the one in the attached building. Great food, service is friendly, and their hot tea is wonderful.
Korean: Jang su Jang
3645 Satellite Blvd
Duluth, GA 30096
One of my favorite restaurants, period. Their specialty is the tofu soups, spicy with smooth soft creamy tofu... mmmmm. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they are very reasonably priced.
Bakery: White Windmill
(there are several, best thing is to google to decide which one is closest)
This is a Korean bakery. Don't pass up the shu-cream pastry, it's so good there aren't even words.
Cuban, you're out of luck, the best restaurant in my opinion just burned down. Was a sad day.
Chinese: Frank Ma's Dinho

Have a great trip!
Crawfish in Athens GA
I occasionally see live crayfish at the HMart in Duluth. Unfortunately, there's not an easy way to call ahead to see if they have anything in stock. You can also try Boudreaux's. They are in Duluth as well.
Could Athens, GA, support an "indie" butcher shop?
There's actually a decent organic butcher shop in Winder called Bentley's. I've gotten a pork loin and a bunny (albeit frozen), and both were quite tasty.
They are... very enthusiastic, and the owner was helpful both times. Prices seemed decent for organic meat (no where near the horror that is the Whole Foods butchery), and everything looked fresh.
And, there's always http://athens.locallygrown.net , which is just cool anyway. Looks like there are listings for assorted lamb and beef cuts. Not exactly a butcher shop, but worth a try. I've got my eye on a leg of lamb for an upcoming dinner.
looking for a good bowl of hot Pho and Korean Tofu house in metro ATL?
Oh, are they open now? Every time I tried to go there in the past, they've been closed.
And as for tofu, I like Jang Su Jang on Satellite Blvd in Duluth.
Salt and Pepper Shrimp in Atlanta?
I ate at HKH yesterday, and it was fantastic, exactly what I was looking for! I appreciate the suggestion, and I'm gonna have to bring someone else next time I go so that they can order something else and I can steal a few bites! Thanks!
Salt and Pepper Shrimp in Atlanta?
I had salt and pepper shrimp in New York a while ago, and I've been looking for it here in Atlanta. All I ever find is battered and shell-less shrimp, not the bright orange, cooked in the shell shrimp I remember. Anyone found the real thing here? Direct me, I've got a terrible craving! :)
Athens Report
Originally round 98 or 99, Big City Bread was entirely in the little storefront on the right. After it became clear that they were gonna do well, they did some extensive remodeling and moved the baking stuff to the right and the cafe to where it currently is. You can see people in there on the right doing things, but generally only early in the morning.
Need Cheap Family Eats in Atlanta
Jake's Ice Cream is now inside the very awesome children's book store called Little Shop of Stories.
Baltimore 'Hound coming to Duluth, GA
Sushi: Haru Ichiban (3646 Satellite Boulevard, Duluth, GA 30096) Best sushi bar in Atlanta, in my opinion. They also have excellent food from the kitchen.
There are some great Korean restaurants in Duluth, too, I like Jang su Jang (3645 Satellite Blvd Duluth, GA 30096) and Gam Mi Ok (3230 STEVE REYNOLDS BLVD #107, DULUTH , GA 30096). Most of the restaurants in Duluth are Asian, other than the ubiquitious chains, but the Loafing Leprechaun (6320 Sugarloaf Pkwy Duluth, Georgia 30097) is a pretty tasty Irish Pub.
Atlanta - 3 Days to Chow. Help?
I can definately agree that Bacchanalia (or its smaller cousin, Quinones) is an excellent bet.
For sushi, if you don't mind adventuring into the suburbs, Haru Ichiban is one of the best.
