Looking for great Chinese delivery in Philly
I currently work at the American Red Cross at 700 Spring Garden Street . And I am looking to wow some of my co workers with really good Chinese . But it needs to be delivered as we have short lunch breaks . So , any help you all can give me will be greatly appreciated .
TOP RESTAURANTS IN LANCASTER, PA
We haven't been to many of the highly rated places in Lancaster , but about a month ago we did go to The Belvedere & I can honestly say it was one of the best meals I've had , period . I had the pan roasted oyster app. & a striped bass entrée that was a special that night & they were both out of this world .
Awesome farmers markets in PA?
I'm a fan of Funk's farmers market in Millersville . This is not a huge market like Roots or Green Dragon . It's more of a nursery that has grown to include baked goods & such . I mainly mention them here , due to the fact that they have the BEST pies there I have had . Short of going home & talking my mom into baking one , that is . They also have really good soups & chicken pot pie . Their potato soup is my favorite .
Imported beers by the bottle?
And , if you're ever in the Harrisburg area , McGrath's usually has Young's on tap as well . Fairly tasty food there too . Drafting Room isn't bad either as far as pub fare goes . And Victory , since the renovations to the place , has been pretty good with the food of late as well . We're pretty lucky to be in a state with so many choices for good beer with or eats !
Apple Cider and Apple Cider Doughnuts
Another great place , if you happen to be in the Lancaster county area , is Funk's Farmers Market in Millersville . The best apple cider dough nuts I've had , not to mention the best pies I've had since my moms .
Reading, Scranton, must eat, help!
See , that's more along the lines at what I was getting at . If you don't want to spend a lot of money there , there are plenty of options on the menu not to .
I can say the Gf & I went to Thai Wat the other day & it wasn't bad at all . The place is tiny & is in a strip mall , so if you're looking to wow someone on a date by the looks of the place you could probably do better . But the food was tasty . We also really like Alebrije Mexican near the Berkshire Mall . And that is a good bargain for the food in my mind .
Reading, Scranton, must eat, help!
You know , I read this all the time on this board . And I'm wondering just what you consider to be too expensive for Reading ? I'll provide a link to Judy's website , so you can look at the prices . As you'll see , they mostly around the $20 mark for entrees , some slightly above , some slightly below . So , what's too expensive ? And where are you going that is so much cheaper & has food as good ? And BTW , I love Hong Than too , but I've gotten some entrees around the $20 range there too . Are they too expensive too ?

And I'm not trying to sound combative here . I'm just tired of hearing folks I've worked with telling me how good places are like Red Lobster & Olive Garden because they give you sooo much food for your money . For me , I'll spend a little more & have a meal I really enjoy as opposed to getting a ton of garbage for my money .
Reading, Scranton, must eat, help!
I second Hong Than . I'll also add Thai Cuisine , Judy's on Cherry , & if you're looking for something really different Haute Chocolate in West Reading . Thai Cuisine is probably self explanatory , Judy's is pretty much classic dishes with a Mediterranean spin on them , all cooked in a large brick oven . Haute Chocolate is pretty much all deserts & drinks , mainly coffee & teas but with shakes & lot's of candies on sale too . They have a couple of hot chocolate drinks that are out of this world .
Birthday cake near Ephrata area?
Might I suggest Byer's Butterflake Bakery near Leola . Just about everything I've had from there has been quite wonderful .

Needed in the Lancaster area
She describes it a totally indifferent staff & food that is only acceptable . I think I've gotten her used to eating at places with better then just ok food . Can't say that I blame her though .
Needed in the Lancaster area
FYI , the place they've been using is Flavors in Columbia . So it doesn't need to be in the Downtown Lancaster area so much .
Needed in the Lancaster area
I'm looking for a place for my GF . She has a group of 20 to 30 folks that get together in the Lancaster area every once in a while . The place they go now isn't cutting it , so she's trying to find something new . Preferences - A side room / separate room would be very nice . Casual is also a big plus . Some of the folks will not want to spend a lot , so inexpensive is good also . Being able to get separate checks would be a big plus . Alcohol would also be a plus , but is not a necessity . The group is child free , so the side / separate room would be the biggest selling point for them I think .
Thaiwat in Reading
Yeah , being honest the positioning of the place has made me question trying them out . We've had a long standing " places in a strip mall are questionable at best " policy in our house for a while now .
Thaiwat in Reading
Has anyone on the boards tried this place ? I've loved the Thai food I've tried so far , & Thai Cuisine is my favorite place for it so far . But I am always looking for new places to try out & noticed this the other day while driving through the shopping center it's in . Any opinions will be greatly appreciated .
Recommendations for dinner in Reading PA
Judy's , Hong Thanh , Thai Cuisine . Those are my top 3 . I'll be the first to admit that haven't had the chance to look into " high end " dining in the area .
Judy's on Cherry in Reading
Hi , I'm the guy who started the thread ( yeah , I know . Different user name . Long story , it was easier to just start again ) . I have a few favorites around Reading besides Judy's . Hong Thanh is the best Vietnamese place I've been to yet . Also Thai Cuisine behind the Fairground Square mall is wonderful . Trooper Thorn's is a pretty good Irish pub type place . The Alpenhof is a very good German place which gets little hype . Hope you try some of these out & enjoy !
Thoughts on the "new" Victory Brewing?
Have to agree on the loudness there . It was like that before the renovation too though . I was surprised they didn't do something about it . Place does look a lot nicer now though , less like a warehouse .
The food at Victory has always been hit & miss for me . I agree that the pizzas are a pretty safe bet . The beer usually makes up for it . The only times I've been fed up with Victory is when the service has been terrible , which has happened a couple times . More then the noise , I hope they've " fixed " that problem .
Dining in Lancaster
Man , either I'm too picky or it was a off night , but I wasn't that impressed by the Asian Bistro the time I went . Had the shrimp w. pine nuts & it was very bland & flavorless . Have never been to Gilbraltar's , but have heard nothing but good things about it . For Asian I'd choose either Rice & Noodles ( Vietnamese ) or Grand China . For Dutchy food , I'd be on the look out for any of the local fire companies having dinners . You could do a lot worse . Just check out any of the Lancaster county web sites for events in the area , there's bound to be something along those lines happening .
simple tria question
Cool , should have specified we'll be at the Sansome street location . That toast does sound wonderful .
simple tria question
We're going to be in Philly next Friday night in the vicinity of Tria . After looking at the beer & cheese menus , I think we'll be aiming for them . However , I'm slightly worried about them not taking reservations . We'll probably be there around 7 pm . I guess my question is how hard is it to get in around that time on a Friday night ? And if anyone wants to throw in any info about what the place is like etc , it would be helpful too . Thanks .
Philly & Amish experience 30 Brits, aged 15-18
The place I would recommend for Amish country eats would be the Shady Maple Smorgasbord just off of route 322 near Blue Ball . They may not be the most Dutchie food wise , but they do have some local color going on there as far as food goes . And if the local type of food doesn't thrill them , there is enough of " normal " types of food being served there that they should be satisfied .
