The definitive gluten free "BEST OF" list! Please add your favorite retail GF stuff.

World Foods GF Thai Curry paste is really, really good. We had been using Taste of Thai but we like WF even more though Taste of Thai is quite good and also GF.

Sabatasso's GF pizza from Costco is good and not too terribly expensive. Just cheese but with a couple extra toppings added at home a good way to get a pizza fix. The Stark Raving Pizza is also good but twice the price.

Organicville Sky Valley Sriracha is one I like. It's hot with a little sweet and not overly garlicky. Huy Fong is also great and has not gluten products. The Huy Fong Sambal Oelek is a necessity for me to add stars when cooking Thai food. Though Huy Fong are not labeled GF they have communicated that their suppliers do not use gluten. [Hearsay from some of the internet GF sources]

Wan Ja Shan Organic GF tamari.

Wild Brine sauerkraut and kimchee are GF taste great and are naturally fermented with probiotics.

Applegate Naturals Sunday Bacon is really good, GF and uncured. Thin sliced to cook up crisp. Hempler's is also good if you like thick sliced.

Isernio's sausages are GF [except the Bangers] in chicken or pork. The Italian are the ones I get and they are GF and no nitrates or nitrites.

What you don't know about Starbucks

A great use for rewards it to find a store that has clover and try one of the reserve coffees you might not normally buy. I would not generally spend the money to get Jamaica Blue Mountain but when I can try it for free with a reward it's great.

Costco Food Finds - 2nd Quarter 2014

At the Seattle and Shoreline they have some commercial-ish cookware and knives in one section. I think made by Tramontina. I haven't tried these though.

On a related note. I bought an 8 inch filet knife from Montana Knife Works at the Lynnwood Costco business center to filet the $9.99 Costco halibut roasts. This knife was about $7 and it is an excellent filet knife.

Decent White Wine in Splits or Small Boxes?

Late to the game but Piccola Winery has wine totes of good wine. http://piccolawine.com/tote/

A tote is a bag that you could have put in a box so same idea but better wine than I have found in any box. 1.5L so 2 bottles worth but it will keep well in this format.

The un-oaked chardonnay is good enough to drink or cook. The Pinot gris is good, too. Either would be nice for cooking.

You can buy online but they do have a limited number of states for shipping.

I don't remember noticing the labels until maybe last year. This is at the Seattle and Shoreline stores.

It's a little hard to say since I'm not comparing side by side. These steaks are very good and seem to be a little more tender and flavorful though I'll admit it could be partly expectation. At this price though they are close enough to the choice in price that I'm happy with them. I also like how when you by the vacuum packed meat at Costco and cut it yourself you don't get the blade tenderizing they seem to do on everything on a foam tray.

These are great. Much better anything else you can get in most stores and pretty close to homemade taste but so easy for lazy people like me. This will definitely be a staple.

Costco is starting to get more gluten free foods

Last time at the Seattle Costco they had large signs near gluten free displays which was nice. They also had more products that are gluten free. The Tortillaland uncooked corn tortillas, Glutino products and some others. They also have a gluten free Sriracha from Sky Valley that is very good. My wife is GF [I'm only sort of GF] but this will be very helpful.

Possibly great new find that I have yet to try but will cook tomorrow... Tortillaland uncooked corn tortillas. I had been hoping to find something like this and now it is finally there. If they are as good as the flour I will be happy.

Seattle and Shoreline have Wild Planet albacore tuna packed in extra virgin olive oil for $9.99 [$5 off]. First time I have seen it but had to try it since we love the other Wild Planet. Haven't tried a can yet.

In Seattle and Shoreline Costco had vacuum packed top sirloin cap and top sirloin in prime grade for $5.89 per lb. I tried the sirloin cap and it was very good though not as tender as sirloin it had great flavor as steak and also in a stewed dish. At that price I would definitely buy again.

You could call it kalbi flavor if you wanted to... when I buy it I think never again it's too much jerky. Then when they have a sample I think it might be a really good idea to buy it. Must resist pork candy.

In Shoreline, WA Costco is now carrying Caveman Bars.

Best GF spaghetti?

Sam Mills makes a corn pasta that if the best one I have tried. The spaghetti from Sam Mills is really good and we have served it to relatives who are not gluten free and they loved it too. We found it at a Seattle Grocery Outlet so I'm sure where it would be available.

Wheat free alternative for bread stuffing?

I made this for Thanksgiving and it turned out well. I baked cornbread [organic cornmeal, buttermilk, eggs, salt] then cut into cubes and toasted in the oven until dry. Then made a stuffing with gluten free sausage and the usual onion, celery, stock.

Hail Merry Miracle Tarts at the Shoreline, WA store. They were delicious. They are gluten free and vegan. Dark chocolate ganache filling made with coconut oil instead of heavy cream. The crust is made with almond flour. I hope they keep these around.

Apparently Olive Garden is for rich people ...

It really just shows that people who eat at Olive Garden lie about what they make on surveys and Darden believes them. Unless they are getting a bunch of people paying the Black Amex at OG.

Holiday food shopping at Costco. .

Currently in the Seattle store they have a great sampler of 4 mini brie rounds from rouge et noir/Marin creamery. Excellent cheese and 9.95 for the sampler.

Other tempting Holiday items are the French cheese sampler and the Spanish cheese sampler. Nice to have the smaller size cheeses so you can have more variety at parties.

(My personal) Best chain pizza rankings

MOD pizza is pretty good chain for thin crust single price pies. Looks very much like Pieology who they sued. they are West coast only.

The real price Costco is selling is $5.66 per bottle but after getting the $48 mail in rebate the per bottle price comes to $1.67. Totally worth the stamp :)

Costco Food Finds - 4th Quarter 2013

The Seattle store had American Wagyu beef today. $29.99 a lb for rib steaks or New York. $18.99 [I think, not 100 percent sure] for tri tip. They looked really good. It was all I could do not to pick some up but we had other plans for dinner.

They also had cases of Beringer Cabernet or Chardonnay for $67 and change with a $48 dollar mail in rebate form attached bringing the per bottle price down to about $1.68. Not the best but for price I think it beats Charles Shaw.

They also had wild caught prawns at the Seafood Roadshow for $13.99 a lb. U15s I think they were big. First time I have seen wild caught there.
