Lunch / Take-out near Eaton Centre...anything worth having?
Bob's Bulgogi at Richmond & Victoria is good for take-out.
What are modified milk ingredients?
Just out of curiosity, what's the deal about modified milk ingredients? My father loves the yogurt he buys that lists this as the main ingredient. The name makes me suspicious, but I don't know much about it.
Takeout near King and Church
Their takeout menu says they're open M-F 11-8, Sat 11-3, closed Sundays and holidays.Regarding veggie options, there's a tofu and vegetable choice for the rice and noodle dishes, in addition to the beef, chicken, and shrimp; they've also got a vegetarian bibimbob (that's how they spell it).
Bolet's Burrito - Solid Burrito in No-Frills Type of Surrounds
Hours: Mon-Wed 11-7, Thu-Fri 11-8:30, Sat 12-6, closed Sun.
ND Sushi and Grill - Laird Dr-Highly recommended
How does this compare to Mikado, which has always been my go-to sushi restaurant when I'm in that area?
Golden Crown Dynasty Cuisine, Richmond Hill - Another GOOD dim sum place for your list!
I've gotta ask: what's the story about the washroom?
Yung Sing on Baldwin - GONE?!
I really liked those tofu buns.
Anyone know anywhere else I can get something similar?
Help! Repatriated Torontonian baffled by the Chinese food!
I worked with someone whose family once ran a Chinese restaurant in a small northern Ontario town, that type that served egg rolls and chicken balls as well as burgers and fries. He told me that his father occasionally tried to introduce authentic dishes that he enjoyed, but invariably found that they went over like a lead balloon.
What's good in Kensington market?
Thinking about visiting Kensington market for Pedestrian sundays. Haven't been there in many years, I used to like Jumbo Empanadas and pupusas from Perola's. I'm sure things have changed significantly since then, what's good there these days?
Exploring Kensington Market
Okay, I gotta ask: what is a Hungarian crepe, and how does it differ from the usual crepes that I would be familiar with?
Yuzu on Adelaide
I was there at lunch yesterday, had the sushi platter for two, it was very good.
Good take out/take home pate?
I've gotten a chicken liver pate from Gilead Cafe that was delicious. Also got a pork terrine from them that was well received.
Hi Shanghai
Glad to hear that the restaurant is good now. My wife is always on the lookout for a good Shanghainese dim sum restaurant.
It's funny - posts are archived forever, but the restaurant business changes rapidly. Searching the boards, recommended restaurants are closed, good restaurants go downhill, and as in this case, restaurants that were previously panned now get good reviews. How to keep up?
Hi Shanghai
I see that Charles is arranging a chowmeet at Hi Shanghai. I searched the boards, and I found he described the restaurant last year as "Lousy food ( cold and ultra-greasy) and service".
Is this the same restaurant? Have things changed there and has the quality improved?
Main & Danforth (Gerrard East) restaurants?
> where is this espresso bar you speak of?
That would probably be the Mercury Espresso Bar, on Main Street just south of Gerrard, on the same side and just south of Cool Runnings. Never been there myself, but it's been mentioned on this board before.
Farmers' Markets 2008
I read this week that the Evergreen Brickworks Farmers Market opening will coincide with Doors Open Toronto on the weekend of May 24-25.
Fune
Went there a couple of times for lunch this summer. Yes, the sushi bar has boats floating around. The food was decent enough, but not spectacular.
Picnic at the Brickworks today.
